It is with a very heavy heart that I announce that Chapter Two will be closing, with our final day of trading being Friday.
This is a post I never wanted to write.
When I took over Chapter Two from my dad, I had big plans for its future. Over the last two years, I have invested heavily in the business, renovated the bar, expanded our offering and worked tirelessly to create a place that people would love to visit. I have given Chapter Two everything I possibly could.
Unfortunately, a combination of reduced footfall, rising operating costs and a significant proposed increase in rent means that the business is no longer viable in its current form. After many sleepless nights and difficult conversations, I have made the incredibly difficult decision to close.
I am heartbroken. Chapter Two has been far more than just a business to me. It has been my life. It has given me friendships, memories, challenges, laughter and so many moments that I will never forget. Watching people celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, engagements and special occasions within these walls has been a privilege, and I will always be grateful to have been part of those moments.
To every customer who chose to spend their time with us, every supplier who supported us, every musician who performed here, every guest who stayed with us and every person who recommended us to others,thank you. Your support has meant more than words can ever express.
I would also like to thank my incredible team. Their hard work, loyalty and dedication have helped make Chapter Two what it is today. I am so grateful that every member of staff will be moving across with me to Casa de Vaca, meaning no jobs will be lost as a result of this decision.
Whilst this chapter is coming to an end, another is about to begin. Although I am devastated to be saying goodbye to Chapter Two, I am excited to put my energy into Casa de Vaca and continue serving the Malton community in a new way.
We will be announcing the opening date of the new restaurant very soon & are very excited to hopefully see you all there🤍🤍🤍
