If you are lucky enough to be on the tide like us last night you would have been lucky enough to see our local boy! Champion kite surfer .dixon_1 sponsored by the number one water gear shop in our area testing out his kit. We sponsored Charlie a couple of years ago when he was in the Olympic Team down in Weymouth foiling. He’s now concentrating on Kite Sufing and the upcoming nationals at the latter part of the year. If you see him; give him a wave! You never know he might wave back in the only way Charlie knows; a wave and leap of his board! Maybe even give him a follow! And see how he gets on later this year.

The second week of the summer holidays is here, and we’re in for another warm one! ☀️🌊

If you’re planning beach days, family adventures by the sea, paddleboarding, open water swims, or simply making the most of our beautiful coastline, we’ve got you covered.

Here are this week’s tide times to help you plan your perfect day by the water. Whether you’re exploring rock pools at low tide or heading out for a swim at high tide, it’s always worth checking the tides before you set off.

If you’ve been here a while, you’ll know the sea is something we’re incredibly passionate about. 🌊

Whether it’s a peaceful walk along the shoreline, a paddle on a warm day, or joining the growing community of cold water swimmers, our coastline brings so much joy. We want everyone to experience that joy safely by understanding and respecting the risks that come with being in and around open water.

Following the recent tragic events in our neighbouring community of Mersea, today feels like an especially important time to share this reminder. Earlier this year, we had the privilege of meeting the Mersea RNLI crew, and it reinforced why we continue to champion and support this remarkable charity. They work tirelessly to keep people safe along our coastline, often responding in the most challenging circumstances, and we are immensely grateful for everything they do. 🩵

If you or someone else gets into difficulty in the water:

🌊 Float to Live – Tilt your head back with your ears submerged, relax and try to control your breathing. Once your breathing is under control, call for help or swim to safety if you can.

📞 Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if you see someone in trouble.

🛟 Don’t enter the water to attempt a rescue. Instead, throw something that floats and encourage the person to float until help arrives.

The sea gives us so much, but it will always deserve our respect. Whether you’re swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking or simply cooling off on a warm day, taking a few moments to understand the risks could save a life.

Our thoughts remain with the families, friends, the local community and the emergency services, including the incredible volunteers at the Mersea RNLI Lifeboat Station 🩵
