Well… that was the Duck Do! 🦆

Hundreds of you through the doors, food vendors sold out and several members of our bar team who will probably never emotionally recover 🤣

Genuinely, THANK YOU to every single person who came down and enjoyed a fantastic day.

The atmosphere was incredible, everyone had a bloody good time and most importantly, you all did so safely and without one single incident.

We even spotted those of you having your own little Duck Do on the balconies across the river.
Yes - we saw you!

We do have to apologise to the huge number of people we had to turn away once we hit capacity. We promise we weren’t try to be difficult, unfortunately once we’re full, we’re full! Thank you to everyone for being so understanding. ❤️

And while we’re here, we also want to say thank you to our neighbours for bearing with us.

We know having hundreds of people, live bands & singers descend on the pub around the corner isn’t exactly your average chilled Saturday afternoon.

We do work really hard, both before and during these events, to keep disruption to a minimum, and we genuinely appreciate the patience and understanding of our neighbours when we have one of our occasional bigger days.

Our little pub has been standing here for around 500 years, and summer live music has been part of its story for many of those years, long before we came along. It’s something the community have enjoyed here over the years, and something we’re really proud to continue.

Of course, being part of a community also means being a good neighbour and finding that balance isn’t always easy, but it’s something we genuinely care about and continue to work hard at with every event we put on.

The truth is, (sorry to get deep!), event days like yesterday mean a lot more to us than simply throwing a party

Running a pub in 2026 is not for the faint hearted, they are closing across the country every single day. Communities are rapidly changing, and we’re stubbornly refusing to let the British pub quietly disappear.

We want The Muddy Duck to be somewhere you can pop in for an impromptu pint and somehow still be here six hours later. Somewhere you can catch up with old friends, make completely new ones, dance terribly, celebrate the big things or just escape the house for an hour.

We want to be the friendly faces behind the bar for the old boy whose pint of ale and a bit of conversation might be the only company he has that day, the meeting place for mates who haven’t seen each other in months, and the place where you wake up the next morning wishing you’d stopped at that 5th aperol spritz 😅

That’s what a proper local pub is to us. It’s not just somewhere you go for a drink it’s somewhere you go to be around people, and that’s exactly what yesterday was. Busy, full of laughter, full of people and ALIVE!

And that’s why we put so much into doing what we do.

So to our artists, food vendors, our managers, our absolutely KNACKERED team, our neighbours, and every single one of you who came and made the day what it was:

Thank you. ❤️

We love every minute of it!
🦆❤️

(& Apologies for the long post, we’re feeling very proud and emotional this morning 🤣)
