We’ve been tweaking our café playlists recently, and a few tracks and artists have properly lodged themselves in our heads.

So, every now and then, we’re going to share one.

> Black Vovo, Tomorrow Now.

This album is absolutely hitting the spot in this searing heat. Warm, loose, rhythmic, a bit hypnotic, and very easy to keep on repeat.

I’m also slightly addicted to amapiano rhythms at the moment. Amapiano is a South African style of house music, usually built around soft keys, deep bass, rolling percussion and a kind of lazy-but-insistent groove that just keeps moving.

Enough rhythm to lift a room, but not so much that it takes over. Very intoxicating.

A cheeky little wine confession ... and we admit it… we bought this one because of the bottle.

Gotas de Mar Albariño comes in a shiny blue bottle that caught our eye immediately. A bit mesmerising, actually. The sort of bottle that makes you think, “that had better not be all fur coat and no knickers.”

We are delighted to say, after much tasting ... it isn’t!

This is a completely new discovery for us, and it’s delicious.

Think Picpoul with a little more peach and polish, or Sauvignon Blanc without being all shouty.

It's very crisp, dry and refreshing, peachy, very citrus, a touch of flowers and a tasty edge. There’s a little sea-breeze freshness to it too, which makes sense for a wine from Spain’s Atlantic north-west.

It feels a bit special. Definitely not an everyday glugger. More “I’ll just have one very nice glass of that” special.

So yes, the blue bottle got us first. But the wine inside is why we’ll be pouring it.

Gotas de Mar Albariño - a bright, coastal Spanish white.

(Available now as a premium guest wine at North Coast Café ... if there is any left 😄)

After a hectic and exhilarating weekend, it was good to stumble into the Valley of Rocks for a bit of soothing sundown.

No big plan. No great expedition. Just one of those moments where you walk into the valley and it does the work for you.

The light was soft, the valley was quiet, and for a little while everything felt a bit less busy.

Not a bad place to catch your breath 😃🥰

North Coast Six, After Six

Scones are not just for the afternoon. We love them at pretty much any time of day, and our North Coast Six feels right at home in the slower evening rhythm of North Coast After Six.

Six mini scones, clotted cream, delicious preserves, time to linger, and perhaps a glass of wine, a cocktail, a hot drink, or something fizzy alongside.

It is still very much a café thing. Just a little more evening.

North Coast After Six runs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6pm.

Adults-only from 6pm.
Kitchen open until 8pm.

Join us for some grown-up scone time.

After our Greek break, North Coast Café reopens tomorrow, Tuesday 26th May, and we’re back with our Summer Menu.

A few favourites are returning, and a few new things are joining the menu.

The Greek Garden Bagel is back, with feta, black olives, roasted peppers, red onion, oregano, salad and mayo.

It also has a new friend: the Souvlaki Chicken Bagel, with Greek-style marinated chicken, feta, roasted red pepper, lettuce and lemon mayo.

We’re also adding the Chicken & Ham Hog, the Chocolate Mini Scone Trio, and a fan favourite ... the Black Forest Chocolate Scone.

Our Soups, Stews and Hearty Bowls are staying for the summer too, but moving into the evenings as Summer Evening Warmers.

We’ve got new wines, new cocktails, and for coffee lovers, the full-cream Breve Cortado is back too!

From tomorrow, and through June and July, we’ll be open:

Monday: Closed
Tuesday: 10am to 8pm
Wednesday: 10am to 8pm
Thursday: 10am to 8pm
Friday: Closed
Saturday: 10am to 4pm
Sunday: 10am to 4pm

Kitchen open until 8pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

From 6pm on those evenings, we’ll also be running North Coast After Six, our adults-only evening café experience.

But first things first, we’re back open tomorrow from 10am. Mwah x

Six spirit-forward classic cocktails, chosen because they deserve to be made properly.

A Negroni over solid ice.
A crisp Vesper Martini.
A bright Co**se Reviver No.2.
A velvety Brandy Alexander.
A cold Cosmopolitan.
A herbal, quietly complex Hanky Panky.

No gimmicks. No sugar bombs. Just timeless cocktails, proper glassware, chilled spirits and a slower pace for an hour or two.

Cocktails for discerning adults, available whenever you fancy one. Because frankly, time is a construct.

The Greek Toastie has returned to North Coast Café.

After rather a long break from the menu, it’s back for the Summer.

Cheddar, feta, roasted peppers and black olives, toasted until golden and properly comforting, but still with that little Greek-inspired lift that makes it feel right at home on our Summer menu.

A few of you might remember this one from before. It disappeared from the menu for a while, but with all the other Greek-inspired twists creeping back in this Summer, it felt like exactly the right time for it to return too.

Available on White or Granary Bread.
