For 21 years, she’s been the heartbeat of our kitchen — our head chef. She’s loud, she’s funny, she’s got that legendary touch of OCD that keeps the kitchen running like a military operation.

She’s seen it all with us…
Weddings, births, goodbyes, the highs, the lows, the tears, the belly laughs — every chapter of our story has Emma in it somewhere, usually shouting orders, cracking jokes or dancing around the kitchen like only she can.

She’s crazy, she’s funny, she’s loyal to her bones and she’s a brilliant mamma who somehow balances the madness of kitchen life with the madness of real life.

⭐ Today’s Popular Plates at The Barn Owl.

It’s been a brilliant day in the pub.Our specials are absolutely flying and the kitchen’s been buzzing.

🦐Smoked Salmon & Prawn Salad with sweet chilli sauce has been the standout favourite. Perfect for a lighter bite.

🌱Our No‑Nut Roast has been incredibly popular too. Fully vegetarian, completely gluten‑free and served with our rich homemade GF gravy. A proper comfort classic.

🥩Homemade Beef Stew has been warming everyone up. slow cooked, hearty and packed with flavour.

🥧Game Pie. Filled with duck, pheasant and venison — has been a real showstopper.

For 11 years, Geoff has been one of the pillars of our kitchen. He’s the lovely, funny soul who’s forever coming up with new starter ideas, keeping the place spotless, and making sure everything is exactly where it should be. His standards are sky high and he quietly inspires everyone around him to match them.

He’s also our resident music encyclopaedia. If there’s a song playing, he can tell you the trivia behind it before you’ve even asked. And if you ever fancy learning something new about trains, just pull up a chair. Geoff’s got you covered.

He’s part of the heartbeat of our kitchen and we’re incredibly lucky to have him. 👨‍🍳

If you’ve enjoyed a plate from our kitchen lately, there’s a good chance Claire had a hand in it. Joining us back in June, she’s become one of those rare chefs who just slots straight in.Steady, smiling and quietly raising the standards every single shift.

We are lucky to have her and even luckier that she chooses to bring her talent, warmth and high standards to The Barn Owl. 👩‍🍳
