The Dartmoor Inn is a very special place. You can come for lunch, dinner or why not make a night of it in one of our cosy bedrooms? Our restaurant is made up of a series of cosy, stylish dining rooms, each with its own identity and we endeavour to make your experience relaxed. The award-winning cooking is based on seasonal ingredients and much work has gone into forging links with local farmers and food artisans to ensure the best raw materials. The small bar has local ales and a log fire – of course – for those colder times. It serves pub classics, Dartmoor Inn style. The Inn’s 3 bedrooms are light, spacious and contemporary country in style. They’re all decorated with beautiful fabrics and furnished with antique and hand-painted furniture from England and France. The Dartmoor Inn at Lydford is situated on the western fringes of the Dartmoor
National Park; an area outstanding in its natural beauty and adjoining a national nature reserve and a site of special scientific interest for its wildlife and
geological value. Within walking distance of the Inn is the pretty village of Lydford with its 12th century
church, castle and the spectacular Lydford Gorge with its stunning ‘White Lady’ waterfall. Lydford is within a 20 minute drive of the historic market town of Tavistock and only
45 minutes from Exeter or Plymouth.

As the seasons change and autumn settles across Dartmoor, our menus begin to reflect the best of what’s around us. 🍂

Our wood pigeon starter is a real taste of the season. Beautifully paired with salt-baked celeriac, pickled plums and girolles, bringing together rich, earthy and bright flavours in one dish.

A beautiful sunset sky to finish our week at the Inn 🌅

As we edge ever closer to Autumn, we will miss these light evenings, but as the nights draw in we look forward to the cosy nights & roaring log fires.

Looking forward to doing it all again next week, back on Wednesday 🍽️🍺

Free entry to Lydford Gorge on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 September for this year's Heritage Open Days.

Not your average National Trust experience. Here you can explore a temperate rainforest, take in the towering Whitelady Waterfall, and descend into the roaring Devil's Cauldron.

Open 10am to 4.30pm, no need to book but please check https://bit.ly/GorgeInfo before travelling in case of any closures for safety. Sturdy footwear with good grip is recommended and dogs are welcome on leads.

Beautiful baby courgette flowers fresh from Mikes allotment in Lifton 💛

These courgettes form an integral part of our current Atlantic Cod dish, with delicious scallop mousse set into the flowers and then served with a Brandade Beignet, Lemongrass, Dashi & Corriander Oil.

Come for a walk with Tess, Willow & Midge 🐾

We are so lucky to have access to Dartmoor right behind the Inn, so decided to bring you along for a little drizzly Thursday afternoon walk!

Willow did have a full puddle suit and wellies which in classic 5 year old style, she refused to wear opting for crocs instead!

Across high down there is the perfect walks for all ages and abilities, especially to create that appetite to join us for some lovely food or a drink after 🍻

Fantastic news, the bridge by Lydford Gorge National Trust is open once again!

Amazing to see that the bridge has been opened before expected and means that you will still be able to access us via Lydford whilst the A386 is closed from Harford Bridge to Mary Tavy station Road overnight from this evening (1st Sept for 5 nights)
