📰 WELL… WE’VE MADE LEICESTERSHIRE LIVE! 📰❤️

Never in a million years did we think we’d be making the news for something like this! 🥹

We just want to make one thing very clear… Leaving The Boat Inn was NEVER our intention. 💔

When we took over, we had so many plans, ideas and dreams for this pub. We put our heart and soul into trying to make it somewhere people could enjoy, somewhere families felt welcome and somewhere the community could come together.

And despite what some may say, we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved. Our sales have continued to grow, we’ve introduced new events, brought back food and welcomed some absolutely wonderful people through our doors. ❤️

Unfortunately, a small handful of people have made what should have been an exciting chapter of our lives incredibly difficult. The constant negativity, gossip, unnecessary drama and personal attacks have taken their toll.

It’s heartbreaking that the actions of a few can overshadow the support and kindness of so many.

Alongside everything else, my health has become a huge priority, and we’ve had to ask ourselves whether continuing in this environment is really worth the impact it’s having on us.

The answer, sadly, is no.

We didn’t come here to make enemies. We came here to run a successful pub, have fun and make people happy. We certainly didn’t sign up for a daily episode of EastEnders! 🤣

But please don’t mistake our decision to leave for failure. We’re walking away with our heads held high, knowing how hard we’ve worked and what we’ve achieved.

To the overwhelming majority of our customers, friends and supporters, THANK YOU. You’ve made the good times absolutely amazing, and we will genuinely miss you. ❤️

And to the handful who have made life unnecessarily difficult… we genuinely hope you’re happy, because you’ve played a part in pushing us towards a decision we never wanted to make.

This isn’t the end of our journey, just the end of this chapter. Who knows where you’ll see us next! 😉🍻

Unfortunately, we won’t be serving our delicious Sunday carvery this week! 😢🥩🥔

We’re really sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause, especially to those who were looking forward to their Sunday roast! ❤️

We want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has supported our Sunday lunches so far. The response has been absolutely amazing, and we really do appreciate it! 🥰

🍻 The pub will still be open as normal, so you’re more than welcome to pop in for a drink and a catch-up!

💔❤️ YES, THE RUMOURS ARE TRUE… WE ARE LEAVING THE BOAT INN! ❤️💔

Well, this isn’t quite the announcement we had planned to make, and certainly not how or when we wanted to make it, but unfortunately it seems our news has travelled a little faster than we intended! 🥺

So rather than let the rumour mill continue, we thought it was only right that you heard it straight from us.

Yes, we have made the very difficult decision to leave The Boat Inn. 💔

Firstly, we want to apologise to all our lovely regulars, friends and customers who haven’t heard this from us personally. We genuinely wanted the opportunity to sit down, have a chat and tell the people who have supported us face to face before making anything public.

Unfortunately, certain people seem to have taken great pleasure in spreading our personal news before we’ve even had the chance to do so ourselves. It’s disappointing that something which has been such a difficult and emotional decision for us has become a topic of gossip and excitement for others.

But that’s life, isn’t it? Some people will always have more interest in other people’s business than their own! 😉❤️

The truth is, this decision hasn’t been made lightly.

We’ve put so much time, effort, money, love, blood, sweat and probably far too many tears into The Boat Inn. We’ve worked incredibly hard to try to make it somewhere people can come together, have a laugh, enjoy themselves and feel welcome.

We’ve had some absolutely amazing times, met some wonderful people, made friendships that will last a lifetime and created memories that we will never forget. ❤️

But behind the smiles, the events, the laughter and the busy nights, there’s also been a lot going on that people don’t necessarily see.

Running a pub isn’t just pulling pints and having a laugh with your mates. It’s long days, late nights, stress, worry, sacrifices and constantly putting everyone else’s needs before your own.

And sometimes, no matter how hard you try or how much you want something to work, you have to put your health, your family and your own happiness first. ❤️

That’s exactly what we’ve decided to do.

This isn’t a decision we’ve made overnight, and it’s certainly not one we’ve made without a lot of thought and emotion.

To everyone who has supported us, whether you’ve been in every single day, popped in for the odd pint, attended our events, enjoyed our Sunday lunches or simply offered us a kind word when we’ve needed it — THANK YOU. ❤️

You have absolutely no idea how much your support has meant to us.

To those who have become more than customers and are now genuinely our friends, please don’t think for one second that leaving the pub means leaving those friendships behind. You’re stuck with us, I’m afraid! 🤣❤️

And to anyone celebrating our departure before we’ve even left… don’t get too excited just yet, we’re still here! 😂🍻

We aren’t going to turn this into a post about negativity, gossip or the people who have made things difficult. We’d much rather focus on the people who have made our time at The Boat special.

We will be leaving, but we haven’t gone just yet! 🍻

Until then, we intend to carry on welcoming you all, having a laugh and making the most of the time we have left.

We will share more details about our leaving date and what happens next when everything is confirmed.

For now, we just wanted to put the rumours to rest and, more importantly, tell you ourselves.

We’re sad, we’re emotional, but we’re also looking forward to the next chapter of our lives, whatever that may bring.

Sometimes walking away isn’t giving up. Sometimes it’s simply knowing when it’s time to put yourself first. ❤️

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey at The Boat Inn.

The pub might not be ours forever, but the memories and friendships certainly will be. 🥹❤️

Our Quiz Night that was due to take place this Sunday has been moved to SUNDAY 18TH! 🗓️

Why? Well… it’s only Quizmaster Jim’s birthday this Sunday! 🎂🥳 And we thought we’d better let the poor man have his birthday off rather than making him spend it trying to catch you lot cheating! 😂😂

We’re really sorry for any inconvenience caused, but don’t worry — Jim will be back on Sunday 18th, armed with plenty of questions, terrible jokes and probably a few that’ll have us all arguing over the answers! 🤣

🍽️ WOW… WHAT A FIRST CARVERY! 🍽️

Well… we definitely weren’t expecting THAT! 😂🙌

Our very first Sunday Carvery at The Boat Inn was an absolute SMASH HIT! ❤️

You lovely lot came out in force and kept us so busy that we actually had to CLOSE THE CARVERY EARLY… BECAUSE YOU ATE US OUT OF FOOD! 🤣🍖🥔

Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better first Sunday. Seeing plate after plate piled high with roast meats, crispy roasties, Yorkshires, stuffing and all the trimmings was amazing! 😍

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came along, supported us, gave us such lovely feedback and was patient with us while we found our feet. For our first ever carvery, we are absolutely over the moon! 🥰

And don’t worry… NEXT WEEK WE’LL BE READY FOR YOU! 😂💪
