See you Thursday

Being a mum to little Mya, who is autistic and non-verbal, the recent news about Noah has really hit me.

I think about the “what ifs” and the dangers Mya may face throughout her life probably more often than I’d like to admit. She doesn’t yet have an awareness of her environment or the dangers that can surround her. She loves exploring, she’s incredibly inquisitive and curious about the world around her — qualities I love so much about her, but qualities that can also make her vulnerable and come with their own risks.

Last night, I held my little Mya a little tighter. I looked at her and felt that overwhelming mixture of love, fear and protectiveness that only a parent can truly understand.

My heart and thoughts are with Noah’s parents and everyone who loves him. The news is something we were all desperately hoping we would never have to hear.

As a parent, you just want to keep your child safe from the world, but sometimes you have to face the heartbreaking reality that you can’t always protect them from everything.

Thinking of Noah and his family. ❤️
