Spring, in soft and sharp.

Burrata d’Andria at the centre, creamy and cool, set against pickled Tropea onion for a gentle bite. Finished with battered nettle leaves and a pesto of ortica, the wild nettle that marks the season.

Prepared at Capricci, where Italian ingredients meet the calm of Central London dining.

On the menu this week.

A white from the hills where Slovenia meets Friuli.

From Marjan Simčič in Brda, sitting right against the Italian border and sharing the same Opoka soils as Collio. This is Ribolla Gialla in its purest form, fermented in steel, rested on lees, no oak. Pale gold in the glass, with poached pear, a touch of acacia, fine acidity and a soft saline finish.

A glass for slow lunches and long dinners at Capricci, where Italian cooking and the calm of Central London meet easily.

This week’s To che vino bevo. Find it on our list.

A quiet confidence in every plate.

Chef Andrea, with two dishes that say everything about the way we cook. A beef fillet tartare layered over a millefeuille of potatoes, dressed with egg yolk, capers and red onion. Beside it, burrata d’Andria with pickled Tropea onion, battered ortica, and a pesto of nettles.

Italian cooking, considered and unhurried, at the heart of Central London.

On the menu this week.

A gentle close to the meal.

A coupe of whipped ricotta and dark chocolate mousse, light and rich in the same spoonful, finished with a coulis of wild strawberries for a bright, fragrant lift.

Served at Capricci, where Italian dessert meets the calm of Central London dining.

On the menu this week.

A red shaped by sea air and old vines.

From Villa Malacari in the Marche, this Rosso Conero is pure Montepulciano, grown on the Grigiano hill near the Adriatic and made by one of the region’s oldest families. Dark cherry and berry fruit, a thread of warming spice, and a gentle earthiness underneath. Aged in large neutral casks, so the fruit stays clear and the texture stays soft.

A glass built for slow dining at Capricci, where Italian wine and the calm of Central London come together.

Spring arrives on the plate.

Pici, thick and tender, folded through a wild garlic pesto made while the season allows. Finished with shavings of ricotta salata and toasted hazelnuts for a little salt and crunch.

Prepared at Capricci, where fresh pasta meets the calm and elegance of Central London dining.

On the menu this week.

A white and a red, raised at the foot of Mont Blanc.

From Les Crêtes in the Valle d’Aosta, two wines from one of the highest vineyards in Europe. Mon Blanc is straw gold and unoaked, with white peach, soft florals and a clean mineral finish. Mon Rouge is its quieter counterpart, a blend of native and international grapes, fragrant and gently soft, made for slow dining.

Two glasses worth pouring at Capricci, where Italian wine and the pace of Central London sit easily together.

Dark chocolate Nemesis Cake with homemade olive oil ice cream.

Rich, smooth and deeply indulgent, balanced by the clean savoury edge of olive oil.

A quietly unexpected dessert in the heart of Central London.
Available now at Capricci.

Not all Nebbiolo announces itself. Giovanni Almondo’s Bric Valdiana 2022 earns attention differently.

From the sandy soils of Roero, it brings red cherry, rose, violet and raspberry, followed by cedar, spice and thyme. Poised, fragrant and deeply rooted in a family whose connection to Montà spans centuries.

Nebbiolo with grace. Now at Capricci
