When you hear the words, “Stylish, vaguely retro, with hints of traditional British pub charm”, what comes to mind? If you didn’t immediately think of The Phoenix, a dog-friendly pub in Denmark Hill, you’re clearly overdue a visit. Set in a beautifully restored railway station building, our pub welcomes just as many faces as our former home – after all, with both an upstairs and downstairs dining area connected by a charming spiral staircase, there’s plenty of room. But unlike the others who passed through years ago, you won’t be rushing in and out in a hurry, with a classy bar tempting you over for after-work drinks, and bright, spacious dining areas wonderfully suited for private dining, events, and large group bookings, including brunch catch-ups over seasonal delights and perfectly poured tipples. If you lose track of time while exploring the nearby Ruskin Park, Lucas Gardens and Camberwell Green and can’t make it home in time for the big game, you’re always welcome at ours, where live sports is shown on BT Sport and Sky Sports. We also have a pub quiz every Wednesday – you know, just in case a sports question pops up…
