TRAILER & REVIEWS

“I can’t believe it took me this long to watch this movie!! My parents have told me about it for years. What a film! I loved it. Peak Yugoslav humour and a great insight into Balkan-ness and WWII-era Yugoslavia; I laughed the entire time – and the ending shattered me."
An Audience ★★★★★
“One of the best films ever.”
An Audience ★★★★★
“A work of art! The movie became an instant classic all over Yugoslavia immediately upon its release. To this day, almost three decades later, it endures as one of the most quotable movies ever to come out of the Balkans."
An Audience ★★★★★
“This brilliant flick about several people travelling to Belgrade just before the start of WW2 in Yugoslavia is probably worth an Oscar or two. It is very profound, intelligent and, above all, funny. Jokes are typically Balkanesque, which makes it even more original in global circuits..."

"The Ballad of Wallis Island" (2025)

14 March & 15 March @ 7:30pm

REVIEWS
“Alive with plenty of droll British humour and with a music-filled, picturesque finale that is sincerely earned, The Ballad of Wallis Island is the best kind of crowd-pleaser: disarming, joyful and full of compassion for its oddball characters."
VARIETY ★★★★
“The performances are spot on. And all involved have made a marvellously melancholy “feel good” movie that ticks off so many Brit film boxes — eccentric characters, quaint and soggy settings, emotions kept under wraps and a charming, wistful story.”
MOVIE NATION ★★★★
“It’s a lovely, melancholic comedy about the acceptance of failure, loss and the slow understanding that what’s gone is not coming back."
THE GUARDIAN ★★★★
“This is simple but not simplistic filmmaking: an exceedingly British comedy that steers just clear of mawkish."
SIGHT & SOUND ★★★★
“The Ballad of Wallis Island is one of the best romcoms since The Odd Couple (1968), which it closely resembles.”
