Our most popular special ever has made itself irremovable from the menu, so as I'm printing up to date menus it's going to have pride of place on the full menu!
Also from next week Hammersmith will have the same opening hours as the other pizzerias so you're going to be able to get your mid week lunch fix at all Base Faces! Tuesday-Sunday 12-10pm..

Blue Roll Margherita
Anyone who's ever worked in hospitality will know the versatility of blue roll. It's used from top to bottom of every restaurant, pub, bar and cafe for every single job imaginable, and a healthy supply of blue roll is an essential start to everyone's day on a shift. It truly is an unsung hero of three restaurant world.
The only thing we've never tried using it for is to put on the pizza. What if it's our next super ingredient?? So we made a blue roll Margherita with gently soaked blue roll in place of the tomatoes, and completed with freshly cut blue roll basil leaves.
It turns out blue roll has it's limits, it was not delicious. It was disgusting.
Now every time I post something that's not on the menu to Instagram someone inevitably pops into one of the pizzerias and asks for it, so I'm really putting this theory to the test, who's going to be the first to ask us for one??
This won't be the next special...

It's been a while since you've seen a pizza from me with all this break in nonsense getting in the way, although it did end with a big smile!
with this gorgeous sunshine that's finally revealed itself I've started dreaming of the fresh summer pizzas, and this one reared it's pretty head..
Tomato base, colourful cherry tomatoes, olives, mini popping pepperdew peppers, garlic, oregano and basil
It's a plant powered feast to celebrate the produce of the land on our 48hr slow dough, made with organic British flour, super digestible and delicious!

Meet
Yesterday I put the call out to any locals who'd like to brighten up our break in situation with a splash of colour on the boarded up window, and Ferry hit me up and said he'd love to help us out!
An hour later we met up at Base Face Hammersmith and he proceeded to improvise this beautiful cartoon, of a wounded pizza skating on through, depicting the positive attitude we have to take to get through these things.
I was so moved by the way the community gathered around us when we needed support, and this beauty will always be a reminder of the kindness of people.
It almost... Almost... Makes it worth getting broken into 😂. Not quite, but I certainly can't say it's been a horrible experience after meeting Ferry and all the heart warming messages of support we've received.
Like a valued banksy, you can see his work on our door for the next week until our new glass gets put in, so pop by and take a photo of it, and check out his insta and website to see what other wonderful creations he's come up with!

The Reuben!
Our new special for the month of May is celebrating the classic sandwich the Reuben, in pizza form!
Pastrami, Mozzarella, Sauerkraut and Dill Pickles
We've teamed up with who make incredible Brisket Pastrami here in the UK to bring to life one of my favourite sandwiches the Reuben.
I've been going down a bit of a wormhole with pickles and fermented foods recently and became obsessed with using pickles on a pizza, and whilst making a Reuben I thought why couldn't this make a great pizza? So after several test versions we got what I think is the classic taste of a Reuben on a pizza..
We did try using Swiss cheese but as it's much drier than our mozzarella it tended to burn in the oven, but for my money the mozzarella really does the job here, and the little sharpness of the pickles pops through with the delicious pastrami.

FAQs....
I thought I'd start a series of FAQs for our new followers, and here's a good one, "What's the mural all about??"
We have the same mural in all 3 shops depicting a little girl spray painting the words People Want Pizza onto a wall... Looks cool right, but what's it mean?
When I first started selling pizza in the lockdown of May 2020 I was making the pizza from my driveway on little gas ovens, in the warm evening sun, and people would come round to collect from me. By November I'd moved onto much better to use electric ovens and moved indoors to escape the winter cold, so every time someone came to pick up their order they rang the doorbell, which happened probably 10-15 times a night..
At the time, my daughter Elisa was 2, and forgot why the doorbell was ringing in the 15 minutes between each chime and would ask us every time "who's that?" To which we'd reply "people, what do you think they want?" And she'd shout "PEOPLE WANT PIZZA!"
And so people want pizza became our Base Face motto, and when I opened the first restaurant in Hammersmith in June 2021 I i wanted to personalise it so I commissioned the lovely Darcy from to draw up our mural!
You can also get our super cool T-shirts with the People Want Pizza sign on the back! We've pretty much sold out of the green version but there's more winging their way to us as I type..
The mural is in all 3 pizzerias but slightly different in each one, can you spot the difference in all 3?

This is mine, I've just been away for a few weeks and coming back I was straight into a double salami with fresh jalapeño and Nduja... It's a real box ticker for me!
