I don’t often get emotional reading customer emails. To be honest, people usually write when something’s gone wrong.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So when this lovely lady with Austrian roots got in touch to tell me how much she and her friends loved our Linzertorte, it really got to me. Especially when she said it reminded her of the one her mum used to bake.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We put so much into these cakes. We try to make them as close to the real Austrian thing as we can, bake them fresh every day here in Islington, and pack every box as carefully as if it were going to our own family.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Moments like this make me and the whole team so proud. They remind us why we do it, and they make us want to keep going and bring a little bit of Austria to even more people.⁣⁣

For years, we didn’t dare put our own name on a cake. 🥐
Every great Austrian Konditorei has its signature torte — and ours was long overdue. It had to feel familiar enough to be us, and distinctive enough to earn the name. So we kept trying. And here it is.
Honestly, the Kipferl Torte is all my favourite things in one slice:
🌿 A light vanilla sponge — like the Kuchen my grandma made in strawberry season.
🍦 Pistachio — the bright green ice cream I got hopelessly addicted to on my Italian holidays.
🍫 A crunchy milk chocolate glaze with almond pieces — like a Magnum, but so much better.
Not strictly Austrian. But even more delicious. Fatima, the genius behind our bakery, and I simply used what we love most — and you can taste it.
