Alongside is DJ, artist, academic, community organiser & creative producer Linett Kamala. Widely recognised as the ‘Sound System Queen’, she is credited as one of the first female DJs to perform on a sound system at Notting Hill Carnival and now champions underrepresented groups in sound system culture.

Havana Meets Kingston’s sound system show sprang from a trip to Cuba in 2014 for a musical meeting of the two islands 🇨🇺 🇯🇲

Mista Savona invited his favourite musical collaborators from Jamaica to fly with him into Cuba in 2015, and in 2017 the first ‘Havana Meets Kingston’ album was released to widespread critical acclaim. The project features giants of the two musical scenes – Sly & Robbie, members of Buena Vista Social Club, Los Van Van, Irakere, Ernest Ranglin & many more greats!

Just announced! The undisputed Queens of Lovers Rock, Janet Kay (MBE) and Carroll Thompson come to The Fox, this October ⭐

Janet Kay made history in 1979 with “Silly Games,” peaking at number two on the UK Singles Chart and made her the first British-born Black female artist to showcase a reggae song on Top of the Pops.

Carroll Thompson burst onto the scene shortly after, releasing her million-selling, self-penned 1980 debut album Hopelessly in Love, later recognised by Mojo Magazine as the greatest Lovers Rock album of all time, which yielded enduring classics like “I’m So Sorry“.

Two pioneering voices of the romantic, soul-infused British reggae movement that defined a generation in the late 1970s and 1980s, under one roof!
