You may have seen our delicious Lion's Mane Steak on the summer menu... well now you can grow your own mushrooms at home and create your own version of this incredible dish. 👨‍🍳✨

We're excited to launch our brand new Lion's Mane Grow Kits, created in collaboration with with 100% of profits going to ❤️🐷

Each kit contains a large 3kg ready to fruit block and can produce up to 1kg of fresh Lion's Mane mushrooms over 2-3 separate flushes, with the first harvest usually appearing in around 20 days. The kits are compact (just 7" x 7" x 7"), easy to grow at home, and come with simple instructions plus support if you need it.

Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus) is a rare and beautiful gourmet mushroom with cascading white spines, a wonderfully meaty texture, and a mild nutty flavour. It's perfect for recreating our famous Lion's Mane Steak, as well as adding to stir fries, pasta dishes, burgers and more.

New mocktail, Sentia Sangria🍹

This little ruby number is built with Red, a non-alcoholic spirit designed to mimic the social “glow” of alcohol without the hangover aftermath. Instead of booze, it plays with GABA pathways (gamma-aminobutyric acid, if we’re being fancy), the brain’s natural “slow down and chill” system.

Translation: relaxed vibes, softer edges, still fully you ✨

Mixed here with pea flower, peach, citrus sparkle, and finished with a burnt-orange twist, it’s giving sunset energy without the next-day regret.

Since we reopened a year ago this week, we’ve done everything we can to make Unity Diner success.

We’ve hosted sanctuary supper clubs.
Fundraised for charities.
Held brand launch parties.
Collaborated with brands and brought new, exciting products into the vegan space.

We’ve served 10,000+ vegan carveries.
Over 5,000 portions of our award winning tofu fish & chips.
And donated over £30,000 to Surge Sanctuary, entirely through our optional 50p donation scheme chosen by our customers.

You’d think we’d be thriving… right?

The truth is, we’re still struggling to stay afloat and things are incredibly tough, even with massive support from the community🥬
We wonder how some of the less well know vegan places stay in business, please support them all❤️

And to be clear, this isn’t because we’re a vegan restaurant.

This is happening across the entire industry.
Restaurants in the UK are operating with a 20% VAT rate on dine-in food, one of the highest in Europe.

In countries like France, Spain and Italy, it’s closer to 10%.
At the same time, 75% of independent hospitality businesses say a VAT cut is critical to survival.

And it doesn’t stop there.
Rising costs across the board, from increased business rates to higher National Insurance contributions, are adding even more pressure.

Prices we have to charge to try and make ends meet push customers away, and no body eats out as much as they used to.

This is bigger than us. It’s the whole sector.

And unless something changes, we’re going to lose more independent restaurants, more spaces, more communities.

So we’ve shared something important.

If you’ve ever eaten with us, supported us, or care about independent restaurants existing at all, please take a moment to read it and add your voice.

Because this isn’t just about saving one restaurant.
It’s about whether places like ours get to exist at all.

🌸 We are open for Easter vegan carvery this Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday 🌸

Meet Indy🥰

Indy was born into a world where her life was already mapped out.

Like so many lambs, she was destined for a horrific end at just 4–6 months old, her throat slit, her life reduced to a meal that would last minutes.

But Indy got a different ending.

Now safe at she gets to grow, feel the sun on her back, and live the life she was always meant to have, not one defined by fear, but by freedom.

At Unity Diner, our Easter vegan carvery is about celebrating that choice.

Choose from braised lamb, roast chicken, roast turkey, cashew & sage nut roast, or root vegetable Wellington as your main, all vegan, all cruelty-free, and no one had to die.

Because every lamb is someone, not something.

And every plate is a chance to choose compassion over cruelty.

And when you eat with us, your meal does more than just taste good, money is directly donated to the residents at Surge Sanctuary, helping more animals like Indy find their happy ending.

April Fool’s. We would never serve dog or any other animal🐕 🐖

Thanks for the collaboration opportunity We are sure you treat your dogs like family, but the deals off!

We are vegan. We always have been. And we always will be👌

Thank you so much to the community for playing along and sharing, the post reached many non vegans and dog lovers.

We had some interesting interactions on DM's from very upset people, we hope we planted a seed🌱

But the justifications from the previous post? Those are real.

“Locally sourced.”
“High welfare.”
“Responsibly farmed.”
“RSPCA Assured.”
“Red Tractor certified.”
“Humanely slaughtered.”

They’re used every day to make some animals feel acceptable to eat… and others unthinkable.

If you felt upset or outraged reading our other post, we understand.

But it’s worth asking why?

Dogs, cows, pigs, chickens, they all feel.

They all experience fear, comfort, and pain.

They all value their lives, just like you.

The only real difference is how we choose to see them.

So the question isn’t “why would you eat a dog?”

It’s: why don’t you?

It’s been a year since we reopened.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support, but the truth is, like many independent restaurants right now, we’re still struggling.

So we’ve had to make a difficult decision.

Starting today, we’ll be introducing meat to our menu🥩 🥓

But we couldn’t ignore what we know about the industry. The vast majority of meat in the UK comes from intensive farming systems that we believe are fundamentally unethical.

So if we were going to do this, it had to be different.

Introducing our first new dish in collaboration with Elwood’s Organic Dog Meat

Pan seared, grass fed Labrador steak, served with seasonal vegetables and a red wine jus🐶👌

Responsibly farmed.

Finally, when you bring your non vegan friends & family with you to Unity, they’ll finally have something to eat.

Because if we’re going to eat animals, the least we can do is treat them well… right?

Back from the brink and tasting better than ever ✨🐟

Salmon 2.0 has finally returned after a little supply drama… and trust us, it was worth the wait.

Lemon & pink peppercorn 3d printed salmon steak, silky celeriac purée, buttery crisp Swiss chard, finished with a golden drizzle of lemon hollandaise 🍋

It’s hard to believe we’ve been reopened for almost a year now.

When we reopened, we decided to try a new initiative: an optional 50p donation added to each bill, which goes directly to support every week.

And honestly… we can’t believe the difference it has made.

Even at a time when prices are higher than ever and we know money is tight, our amazing customers have continued to support it. Almost everyone happily keeps that 50p on their bill, and it truly adds up.

In just the last four weeks alone, that small 50p donation has helped us send an incredible £1,456 to the sanctuary to help care for the animals. 🐷🐮🐔

Food, bedding, vet care and a safe home for the residents.

We truly can’t thank you enough. We’re so grateful for the support and so proud of the community we’ve built together. ❤️
