Last night's was another fabulous evening! We explored Dominica πŸ‡©πŸ‡² with fish braff aka fish broth or fish tea - a light fish soup with little 'hard food' and fish (we also make fish broth in Montserrat πŸ‡²πŸ‡Έ so I checked in with my great-uncle to see how he made his first!) Then we had breadfruit croquettes called boulette from St. Lucia πŸ‡±πŸ‡¨ i had these wen we I went a few years back and they were πŸ”₯
Then we went to the only Caribbean country on the Aputh American continent - Guyana πŸ‡¬πŸ‡Ύ with Chinese-Guyanese fried chicken and fried rice and finished with a lovely Cuban πŸ‡¨πŸ‡Ί flan.

As always, came with the (hi) stories and smashed it in the kitchen!
We still going with this series, but we will be taking a break at the end of the year so join us while we're here. Next month we're going to Martinique πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ά πŸ‡«πŸ‡· Dominican Republic πŸ‡©πŸ‡΄ JamaicaπŸ‡―πŸ‡² and Antigua & Barbuda πŸ‡¦πŸ‡¬

to one of the first ever pop ups I did in 2018 (was always a favourite of mine, did it a few times again after this!)
Looking back now, I went real rogue on this but made it work. Had no idea about branding, strategy or marketing in those days. All I wanted to do was cook some good food after doing a job I couldn't stand for 2 years, which had almost depleted all my creative juices. So grateful for the journey so far and excited for wherever the road takes me and my Dutch pot next πŸ–€

At this point most of us have watched , which has beautifully reinforced how important it is to share the nuances that are present within the wider Caribbean community here in the UK and detail every part of our narrative in its entirety. In addition, how food has been integral to the preservation of our culture for so long, not only providing nourishment but safe spaces for us free of prejudice and discrimination.
