The Fountain of Brew-th: stay up AND stay young?

It’s what we’ve all been waiting to hear. Coffee saves lives!

To make a long story short, a recent study published by the European Society of Cardiology found that coffee drinkers have a longer lifespan and are at a lower risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, compared to those who don’t. The study included 449,563 participants between the ages of 40 and 69, all of whom did not have pre-existing cardiovascular conditions. Data was gathered about the type of coffee consumed and at what frequency. 22.4% of the participants drank no coffee at all. The median follow-ups were 12.5 years later, which found that “all types of coffee were linked with a reduction in death from any cause”.

To make good news even better, the lowest risk of cardiovascular disease including coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, and ischaemic stroke was found in those who had two to three cups a day! The type of coffee which consistently came out on top for reducing disease, and longevity was ground coffee.

So why not pop down to Bookmark Café and enjoy one of our delicious coffees, guilt-free? We have one for every mood, from exquisite Espressos to luscious Lattes. After all, it’s good for your health... And for when you’re not in the mood for a coffee at all, we have tea and other drinks and of course our locally made, well-loved cakes. We can’t find any studies to confirm that our cakes add years to your life, but they sure are delicious! We are looking forward to seeing you soon ☕🍰
