Opening the new, shiny Lower Marsh Arts Club, we've been looking at our mission and our goals. And it all comes down to this:

At the Lower Marsh Arts Club, we will create an unparalleled quantity and quality of opportunities for early career artists to make work, develop their skills, grow their networks, and have a really good time doing it. This leads to us offering a truly brilliant, exciting, fun creative programme in an enticing social space, that audiences want to see.

In 2024, VAULT Festival lost its home. That was a huge blow not just to us at VAULT Creative Arts, but to the performing arts industry as a whole. Each year, the festival engaged with over 100,000 audience members, and supported thousands of artists to make and experiment with new work.
---
Emerging from the ashes of this, VCA began experimenting with our base of operations just around the corner from The Vaults - The Glitch. The question was, how close could we come to matching the impact of VAULT Festival, year-round? We overhauled our programming, undertook a programme of refurbishment, and introduced a raft of artist development programmes. In our first year, we hosted over 400 shows and supported over 1,000 artists.
---
We think the experiment was a success. So, we're committing to it. The Lower Marsh Arts Club is our way of saying that we're here to stay. Hosting up to three shows a night, multiple festivals through the year, and a range of artist development schemes, we're building what we think is the best version of what a Fringe Theatre can be.

That's right, the rumours are true! This autumn, The Glitch will be rebranding as the Lower Marsh Arts Club (or LowMAC, if you're nasty). We've just finished a programme of renovations to our performance space and our bar, and we're really excited to launch into this new chapter of our work.
---
LowMAC is the continuation of what we've been doing at The Glitch, and the natural inheritor to our work with VAULT Festival. With the rebrand, we're nailing our colours to the mast. We want to create a fringe theatre venue that truly serves and prioritises everyone that comes through its door. We will offer unparalleled opportunities for artists, operating as a creative hub, a social space, and (most importantly) the friendliest venue in London! Our work will be led by ambition, inclusion, and the crucial question inherited from our VAULT Festival days - "But is it fun?"
---
Over the coming months as we establish this new identity, we'll be announcing innovations we're expecting to deliver. From even more opportunities for artists to make work, to better financial deals for our incoming companies, and more space for under-represented voices to be heard. We won't be taking anything for granted - everything about the way Fringe theatre works in London is up for debate. This is a really exciting new venture for us. And we hope you'll join the club!
