Did you know.....?

Last Friday we served more customers who joined us without a reservation than those that had one.

We are always super grateful for everybody who chooses to come through our restaurant door no matter what the reason. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion booked in advance or just left work and thought I need an Etsu right now 🥰

We'd love to see you tonight and if it helps sway you, we have our lovely Spicy Ebi Tempura Roll on specials tonight 🙌

Back on specials!! 🙌..
We used to have this on our main menu as its one of my favourites, but it was very hit and miss.

So we took it off yet when we add it to our specials menu, it always proves very popular 🤔

It pairs really well with most of our dishes so great for when you're having sharing plates and our Chefs make it up fresh in house which is a joy to watch being cooked.

For those who've never had it, tamago yaki is a Japanese style sweet omelette that is cooked thinly and rolled to create lots of layers which makes it deliciously fluffy.

We have quite a bit of space still for Friday, Saturday & Sunday and we're open from 4pm each day if you fancy join us 💛

New on specials!! 💚..
My Dad used to tell me how much he loved melon soda growing up in Japan and I'm gutted to have not gotten this onto our menu whilst he was still with us 😢

With the warmer temperatures in Japan whilst I was there, I kept seeing melon soda everywhere and so when the opportunity rose to add it to our specials, of course we took it!

Hoping it will bring the nicer weather back but no matter what, its so deliciously refreshing.

I just can't decide it if its a drink or a dessert 🤔

Get it while you can!! 💚

I always get so much inspiration to keep driving Etsu forward following visits to Japan and I love bringing ideas back.

My most favourite memories of Japan are always at our family's house, with a table full of small dishes, my Uncles incredible handmade gyozas and the connection that only being around family can bring 🥰

Sadly we've lost most of the family in the generation above me in Japan now, but I still try to recreate a table full, even if its in the hotel recreation area after a long day sightseeing 😊

Etsu was born almost 19 years ago so my family and I could get access to authentic Japanese food and in my mind, try to recreate those tables full of small dishes right here in Liverpool.

Its so heart warming to watch you guys fill your tables at Etsu to share with your favourite people and its why we love what we do and why we've survived all these years 🙇‍♂️

Seared Sanma Nigiri - Torch seared saury fish on seasoned rice topped with momoji oroshi and spring onion

Spicy Ebi Tempura Roll - Tempura king prawns rolled with seasoned rice, nori and avocado wrapped in roasted sweet peppers and topped with chives and spicy Japanese mayo

Lovely visitor to Etsu 🦅

Last night we had the pleasure of a visit from this lovely peregrine falcon 😲

Seemed completely chilled and unfazed by onlookers as it perched up right next to our front door and was in no rush to move on.

Apparently seeing a peregrine falcon is widely regarded as a powerful omen that brings sharper focus, higher perspective and spiritual freedom.

We're lucky to always have great guests at Etsu 🥰

What a selection of sushi!! 😍

As owners of an independent business, you're never really off from work, but receiving reviews like this is absolutely not work, its the fuel for our motivation to keep trying to make Etsu be the very best it can be 🥰

Etsu is almost 20 years old and for our Google reviews to be on 4.7 out of 5 after all that time, shows the hard work our team puts in to keep Etsu at a consistent high level.

Thank you to this lovely reviewer and all those who have reviewed us before, we genuinely do really appreciate it 🙇‍♂️

Apologies for being so quiet on here lately 🙇‍♂️

Decided on a last minute trip to Japan and forgot how much organising it takes, how far the journey is and the dreaded impacts of jetlag 😩

But its all 100% worth it and we are already having a great time!

Whilst my family are feeding hungry koi carp mouths here in Japan, our Etsu family are working hard to feed yours at Etsu 🥰

Now finally over the jetlag, hopefully I'll get the chance to post some more to keep you updated on whats happening at our own piece of Japan in Liverpool ❤️
