Our beautiful garden is now open for alfresco dining and drinks!
We get very busy when the sun's shining and as such, we cant always accept walk ins, so please book in advance when possible!

You can click to choose a garden table via our website booking portal at www.freestatekitchen.co.uk

Whilst we always aim to allocate tables a sunny spot, please keep in mind, the weather is still mild and the sun wont reach all areas. As a general rule, the earlier you book in the diary, the more chance you have at getting a sunny spot as we fill these first.

We're always happy to welcome guests for drinks only, but as we're a restaurant, diners and bookings always take priority first so please dont be too upset if we're too busy at peak times.

Dogs are welcome, please keep on a lead and do not allow them to leave mess or dig up the grass.
Children are always welcome at FSK but we do ask they are supervised at all times as to ensure their safety when food and drinks are being served.

Beautiful April sunshine 🌞

Today marks 13 years of Free State Kitchen and what a ride its been. 🎂 🎈 🍾

We've survived covid, had a baby and seen lots of our past staff go on to set up their own fabulous places like and .

Theres been babies and weddings plus lots and lots of laughs and love. We've stayed friends with so many past staff members and have enjoyed watching you all shine!

Weve met 100s of new friends, both as customers, colleagues, peers and suppliers. Some fantastic events, trips and lots of wine and beer!!

There's also a full troup of Free State babies who are now munching on chicken wings and some even work for us!

Its been demanding, the same as raising a child! But the rewards have been tenfold! Its given us a community to celebrate together and support each other.
Weve loved being part of the Hope St neighbourhood and working with other businesses to create a wonderful destination area of our city with the Hope St CIC.

FSK allowed us to open our coffee shop .coffee where we get to meet even more wonderful customers!

Weve had so much support from our suppliers over the years too, always working with us to provide the best for you all.

So today we celebrate. By having our equipment serviced!!

We keep on going! Its the only thing we know! And thank you for allowing us to do so!
The hospitality industry is a fragile place at the moment so to celebrate 13 years really means a lot to us personally!
