A few weeks ago we had a Team Day Out to Meanwood Valley Urban Farm. What an amazing place!!
We couldn't believe they pack so much into the place. Every inch of land has something growing or grazing on it. And I really can't believe how much work the tiny team of growers do!!
Jo goes down there most weeks to pick up the veg order and always comes back feeling a bit calmer than when she left. The place is generally buzzing with the sound of children playing. There's quite often an army volunteers in one of the community spaces. Or just Leeds residents come to have a wander round the farm (paying their entry fee to help keep the place going).
We spent the day doing some harvesting - Beetroot, Kale, Kohlrabi all of which can be found on dishes at The Swine. After lunch, which we brought with us as a thank you for letting us visit, Andy, one of the growers, was kind enough to give us a tour of the farm, very patiently answering our questions.
It was a such a lovely day. It's always great to escape the confines of the restaurant now and then and good for us to see just how much work goes in to produce some of the food that we put on your plate..
We cant thank the team at Meanwood enough for their patience and hospitality.
