Spa Guide: 5 steps to the mud rasul chamber…
Enter the spa reception in Hazlewood Castle’s St. Leonard’s wing in North Yorkshire yet feel transported to the Atlas Mountains in the Moulouya Valley of Morocco. At least three centuries before the Castle’s 11th century origin, Moroccan women began using volcanic mud and hammams (bath houses) for skincare; today we can imagine being transported back in time at Imagine Spa’s Mud Rasul Chamber.
Step 1: Begin by exfoliating with coarse and crumbly Himalayan salt to cleanse the skin free of any lotions or oils, before showering with mild heat to awaken the pores.
Step 2: From your trio of treatments to choose from, move onto the thicker creamy and colourful clay-like muds, each infused with differing minerals and essential oils, apply a smooth thin layer over your/your partner’s body.
Step 3: Enter the steam chamber then sit back, relax, and inhale the steam whilst your skin absorbs the minerals, drawing out impurities.
Step 4: Toward the end of the steam cycle, an overhead warm rain shower begins to wash away the clay, gently rub the skin in circular motions to release the mud and freshen your skin cells.
Step 5: Step out of the chamber to shower away any remaining traces, reach for your towels to blot dry your silky soft skin, before reaching for your robe and slippers to continue your day.
