A few weeks ago, we convinced a table full of people that eating increasingly hot chicken wings was a good way to spend an afternoon.
Everyone lived to tell the tale but, more importantly, the £5 entry fees raised £45 for Horsforth Community Pantry. We popped down recently to hand over the money, along with some drinks from the pub, and got to see a bit more of the brilliant work they’re doing right here in Horsforth.
And we don’t want it to end there.
We’re going to be supporting the Pantry on an ongoing basis. The King’s will become a place where you can drop off donations and find out what they need, and we’ll be finding more ways to raise money through the pub too. More wing competitions, themed quizzes and whatever else we can rope you lot into.
We’ve always thought a pub should be more than somewhere to get a pint. We’re lucky to have a cracking bunch of people through our doors every week, and we’d like to use that to do a bit of good in the community we’re part of.
Have a swipe to see how it all started. And to everyone who subjected themselves to the wings, thank you. Your suffering was for a good cause.
