We've got a bit more time on our hands at the moment with no catering and no coffee shops running. We've got an amazing lunch menu up on Deliveroo and our Friday drop offs have been going really swell so far, but in between we have time to play with our food!

This here is a pimped version of our berry smoothie. We added oats to thicken it, homemade granola on top and then got a bit carried away with kiwis, mangos and Val's cookie cutters. 🙈

Desperate for some delicious freshly baked croissants and coffee this weekend? Here’s a pic of one of the huge boxes Paul from Baltzersens sent us for our deliveries going out last weekend - they were pretty amazing!

Our home delivery service last Friday was a huge success - 💕 THANK YOU 💕 to all our lovely customers for placing orders.

This week we've added organic eggs and butter from our milk supplier. We have also managed to get hold of paper flour bags so we can pack down a lot of stock from our production kitchen to sell that is difficult for people to find right now like rice and flour. 25kg bags are still easy to get hold of! Got these cute sample packs from James on our delivery today so we could cup all the coffees we’re selling again. Usually we’d get to taste them all in the shop but hey…

Set up a cupping table in a sunny window and went for it. Gotta say North Star - you guys are totally smashing out the roasting and sourcing right now. 👊🤩

If you haven’t already put in a pre-order for our Friday local delivery run, we can still add you on for coffee, brewing gear and cakes as long as it’s over £20.

Honduras experimental microlot from Frances Romero £12 a bag…

This is the showstopper folks. Unlike what you’d expect ‘normal’ coffee to taste like, full of boozy dried fruit and sticky sweetness. One of the best naturals I’ve tasted in a long time and it’s just as good now as when I cupped it at the roastery weeks ago and had my mind blown. Get it while it lasts!

Burundi Ncamwayacu washed £10 a bag…

No I can’t pronounce it either but it’s delicious. Really clean, lots of orange and peach and a nice balanced sweetness.

Burundi Maruri natural £10 a bag…

We got both these coffees so people could try two wildly different flavours from the same country using different processing techniques. This is a great example of a sweet natural - think super rich fruit cake, fig and a bit of orange acidity again.

Running low on coffee? We’ve got you covered. How about sourdough bread? Fresh cut flowers? Cake??? ☕️🍰🍞🥐💐

Opposite deliveries will be starting up from this Friday. We’ve spent a bit of time teaming up with some other local indy suppliers to make it worthwhile getting the van back on the road and think we’ve come up with a great selection to get you through your lockdown weekends.

Minimum order is £20 and we deliver to most of North Leeds below the ring road every Friday. If you’re not sure we cover your area send us a DM!

Cut off time for Friday is Wed 12pm - we can probably add stock like coffee and cakes on after that, but not the bits that we have to order from other local businesses in advance.

Anyone desperate for coffee further afield, yes we can post it to you for £4 P&P! Send us a DM.

This, my friends, is a vegetarian HOMITY PIE! It’s one of the bestsellers on our home-cooked ready meal menu at the moment. Perfect comfort food when the evenings are a bit chillier and reminding you it’s still only April despite the recent sun.

Usually a simple potato and cheese pie, we’ve made our version slightly healthier. A crisp wholewheat pastry base filled with a mix of roast root veg - sweet potato, potato and swede. We’ve crammed in loads of spinach and covered it with an unctuous cheese sauce and sourdough crumb topping.

Reheat in your oven for 15-20 mins at about 200C. One pie will serve two people with a side of extra veg (we love steamed broccoli and roasted kale), or one really greedy / hungry person (me).

All those pics of healthy food need a little bit of balance we say… How about some HOME DELIVERED CUPCAKES? Our incredibly talented Head Baker Val - - made these for the lovely on her birthday. We thought why not offer home delivery? We haven't much else to do right now!

So if you would like a box of utterly delicious homemade cupcakes made for a celebration, a friend, a birthday or just to cheer someone up, pop an email over to [email protected] and we will deliver them to your door locally. We just need 48 hours notice. 6 cupcakes for £15, 12 cupcakes for £25. We can deliver to most of North Leeds as far up as the ringroad.

We’ve been using the downtime in between our orders to work on our new summer menu for when we reopen. Long overdue are our new smoothie bowls…

This one is particularly healthy, with spinach, kale, lemon, banana, avocado and mint. Garnished with fresh blueberries, poppy seeds and kiwis. We pair our kale and spinach with lemon as the extra vitamin C really helps you to absorb the iron. We also use the whole (unwaxed) lemon - skin and all. You can’t taste it in a smoothie and it has a lot more nutrients in than just the juice.

For those of you that think green smoothies sound awful - try a handful of spinach in your next one, you honestly can’t taste it when it’s with a banana, and its sooooo good for you!

This is our orange buddha bowl: a wholegrain rice, green lentil and quinoa base, with spiced roasted chickpeas, cumin roasted sweet potato and our beet and red cabbage hot slaw. A great balance of wholegrains, pulses and colourful herbs and veg to give you sustained energy throughout the day and keep that immune system in tip top shape.

Fancy something healthy for tea and can't be bothered cooking? We've got a range of chilled ready meals up on our Deliveroo page that you can order now to reheat later. They take 30 minutes from chilled in the oven and will serve one person on their own or stretch to two if you add some veg as a side.

As promised... We have some delicious retail stock left if anyone is struggling to get their last fix of coffee beans.

Lots of the amazing El Salvador which is our personal fave, and will be the main component of our new North Star x Opposite espresso blend when we reopen. It's something we're super excited about as we are going to be using solely female coffee producers for this one to highlight women in coffee - especially as our business is run by an amazing all female management team!
