Built over 400 years ago, originally called The Leopard, The Thornhill still retains some of the original built features, including a stone entrance dating back to 1673 inscribed with W.C. Using fresh local produce, The Thornhill offers delicious pub food, served to a very high standard, our menu ranges from snacks, lunch options, traditional pub classics & a some great à la carte options. It has been said that there are secret tunnels running from the pub down to Kirkstall Abbey built many years ago by the monks. There are some sealed off areas of the cellars that have not been opened for many years - adding some mystery to the building and helping to create its unique atmosphere!

TALES WITH TOM RETURNS THIS CHRISTMAS 👻🎄

We’re really pleased to welcome Tom Hope back to The Thornhill for another evening of ghost stories on Saturday 19th December at 7.30pm.

This time, Tom will be reading a mix of his own original material alongside another classic from M. R. James — The Stalls of Barchester Cathedral.

If you’ve been to one of Tom’s readings before, you’ll know how atmospheric these evenings are… and if you haven’t, this is a very good one to start with.

Tickets are £10 and places are very limited, so please book early if you’d like to come — we’d hate for anyone to miss out.

A winter evening, a quiet room, a few ghost stories… what could possibly go wrong? 👀

BIG WEEKEND INCOMING AT THE THORNHILL 🎶🍻

We’ve got plenty going on this weekend, starting with Folk Club upstairs on Friday night from 7.30pm — always a lovely atmosphere and a great way to kick off the weekend.

Then on Saturday from 8pm, we’re heading straight back to the 90s for a full night of throwback tunes, big singalongs, fancy dress and all the nostalgia you can handle. 💿🕺

So whether you fancy something a bit more laid-back on Friday or a proper party on Saturday, we’ve got you covered.

Friday — Folk Club, 7.30pm
Saturday — Back to the 90s, from 8pm

WE’RE HIRING 🍽️🍻

We’re looking for another experienced member of staff to join the team at The Thornhill.

This role is very much about working in a busy, food-led pub, so we’re specifically looking for someone who already knows how a restaurant service works — not just the bar side of things.

You’ll need:

* At least 2 years’ experience working in a restaurant or food-led environment
* To be confident running food, clearing tables, looking after guests and keeping service moving
* To be comfortable working at pace when we’re busy
* To be 18+
* To be reliable, friendly and happy to muck in wherever needed

And one little thing… please apply for yourself. We get lots of enquiries from parents on behalf of sons and daughters, but if you want the job, we want to hear directly from you.

CHRISTMAS AT THE THORNHILL 🎄

We’re now taking bookings for our Festive Menu, so if you’re planning a Christmas get-together with family, friends or work, now’s a good time to get something in the diary.

Our festive menu is available by pre-order, with 2 courses for £27.95 or 3 courses for £32.95, including proper Christmas favourites and plenty of comfort food.

We’ve also got our function room available to hire, ideal for Christmas parties, family gatherings and festive get-togethers. Our buffet menu is available too, with sandwich and hot buffet options depending on what you’re planning.
