There’s something lovely about having a few good nights to look forward to — especially when they bring our little community together. 🤍

We’ve got three very special evenings coming up at the Swan, each with its own reason to gather your favourite people and join us.

🇪🇸 Friday 11th September
One Last Taste of Summer
Authentic Spanish tapas will be available from 6pm, followed by live acoustic music from 8pm. A last little bit of sunshine, sangria and good company before autumn arrives.

To book your table, head to our website:
https://whiteswanyeadon.co.uk
Please put “Tapas Night” in the comments box when booking.

🦔 Friday 18th September
Honey’s Legacy
A Pay As You Feel evening with live music from The Signals, raising money for Prickly Pigs Hedgehog Rescue. Honey’s story touched so many people locally, and we’d love to see the village come together in her memory.

Cheese & Wine Night
We’re delighted to be teaming up again with George & Joseph and Bodega Movil for an evening of beautiful cheeses and perfectly paired wines. Tickets are £30 per person.

Most of us can only imagine the heartbreak of watching someone we love leave for a shift, expecting them home later — never thinking it could be the last time we see them.

Yesterday, PCs Matthew Blades and Tom Clough made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities. Alongside them, five other lives were tragically lost, leaving more families facing an unbearable loss.

The knock on the door no family should ever have to answer. The silence left behind for the people who loved them, and for the colleagues who must somehow return to work without them.

Our hearts are with every family, friend and colleague left behind. There are simply no words big enough.

To every officer who puts on their uniform, and every loved one standing proudly behind them, thank you. Your courage, commitment and support are never taken for granted.

The Thin Blue Line is not just a line. It is a family — and today, that family is hurting. 💙

𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗦 💙

A GoFundMe appeal has been launched to support the families of PC Matthew Blades and PC Tom Clough.

The appeal states that all funds raised will be for the benefit of their families, with Cleveland Police to be consulted to ensure the money is distributed appropriately and in accordance with their wishes.

At the time of writing, more than £8,000 has already been raised.

If you would like to donate, we have pinned the link in the comments below. 💙

🗑️🎬 BINGATE 2026 — THE FINALE 🎬🗑️

Monday. 7.44am.

Seven days after this whole ridiculous saga began…

THE BIN WAGON ARRIVED. 😂🗑️

No fanfare.
No press conference.
No security detail.
Not even Alex with a clipboard.

It simply drove in, emptied the bins and left — with absolutely no appreciation for the emotional journey the rest of us have been on.

Rude, really.

Seven days.

One missed bin collection.

One complaint.

And somehow, against all odds and basic common sense, an entire franchise was born.

We’ve had Matt’s accidental rise to fame, Alex dragged in as the loyal accomplice, Mackenzie promoted without consent to First Lady of Bingate, Count Binface entering the storyline, Katie White MP somehow getting dragged into it, a little Citizen Smith, cries of POWER TO THE PEOPLE! and enough political ambition to make us question whether we’d accidentally stopped running a pub and started a movement. 😂

And now…

Bingate is over. 🥹🗑️

And ridiculously, we’re actually a little bit sad.

Because during a week that gave us the fifth heatwave of the year, a solar eclipse and a national phone alert that had everyone staring at their screens wondering “what now?”…

somehow a missed bin collection became a little bit of light relief.

Judging by your comments, messages — and the people who actually came in because they’d been following Bingate — it seems it kept quite a few of you entertained too. ❤️

Matt can now retire from public life.

Alex can surrender the clipboard.

Mackenzie can finally resign as First Lady.

Katie White can relax. The seat is safe. 😂

And I can finally get back to playing pubs. 🍻

If nothing else, this completely accidental seven-day saga has proved our strapline better than any marketing campaign ever could:

We’re not just a pub… we are YOUR community hub. ❤️

Apparently that now includes food, drink, rooms, friendship, community spirit, political satire, accidental celebrity management and emergency wheelie-bin entertainment.

So thank you for laughing with us, encouraging the nonsense and making Bingate far bigger — and much funnier — than it ever had any right to be.

For one final time…

POWER TO THE PEOPLE. ✊
POWER TO BINGATE. 🗑️

ROLL CREDITS. 🎬

And as Gavin & Stacey taught us, sometimes everyone says goodbye, life moves on, the story is finished…

…and then, completely out of nowhere:

“What’s occurring?” 😂

🇬🇧🗑️ BINGATE 2026 — POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS 🗑️🇬🇧

We were absolutely, totally, fully done with Bingate.

Then Count Binface came second in Clacton and Matt saw it as a potential career change. 😂🗑️

9,455 people voted for a man with a bin for a head.

Which is dangerous information to give someone whose strongest qualification is having actually climbed inside one.

Matt now insists Bingate wasn’t messing about.

It was grassroots political activism.

Which, apparently, is what we’re calling climbing into a wheelie bin now. 😂

So apparently we now have a political party.

Alex has appointed himself Chief of Staff.

Mackenzie has somehow become First Lady of Bingate.

She wasn’t asked.
She wasn’t consulted.
And we’re fairly sure she’s currently Googling how to resign from a political party you never actually joined. 😂

Matt’s manifesto is refreshingly simple:

Bins emptied when they’re supposed to be.
Justice for Yeadon.
No man left behind on bin day.
And full pardons for anyone forced into emergency waste-management duties.

We’d also like to reassure Katie White MP that her seat is safe.

For now. 😂

Although if she sees Matt coming up Yeadon High Street in a sheepskin coat shouting “POWER TO THE PEOPLE!”, Alex behind him with a clipboard and Mackenzie reluctantly doing First Lady duties…

…we’ll give her a heads-up.

Count Binface has not yet responded to rumours of a coalition.

Matt says talks are going well.

Count Binface has no idea they’ve started.

FOR YEADON.
FOR JUSTICE.
FOR BINGATE.

✊ POWER TO THE PEOPLE.

Six days ago I just wanted the bloody bin emptying.

Now my son has launched a political party, his mate’s Chief of Staff, his girlfriend’s trying to resign from it…

…and I’m still here playing pubs. 😂🍻🗑️

So let’s just hope the bins get emptied early next week…

because I’m not sure any of us can survive Bingate: The General Election. 😂🗳️🗑️

🗑️🎬 BIN-GATE 2026 — DAY THREE: ENDGAME 🎬🗑️

It’s Friday. We’ve made it.

After one complaint, one wheelie bin and three days of an accidental, ridiculous trilogy, we have finally reached the end.

And somehow Matt appears to be emerging from all this as Yeadon’s most unlikely celebrity. ⭐😂

Monday: Matt got in a bin.

Wednesday: the complaint arrived, there was a solar eclipse and BIN-GATE was born.

Friday?

PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY COMING INTO THE PUB BECAUSE THEY’VE BEEN FOLLOWING BIN-GATE ON FACEBOOK.

Definitely NOT in the marketing plan.

But they do say any publicity is good publicity…

Although I’m fairly sure they weren’t talking about your 23-year-old son climbing into commercial waste. 😂🗑️

We’ve spent circa 15 years building the White Swan.

Matt spent about 30 seconds in a wheelie bin and accidentally discovered customer acquisition.

I’m trying not to dwell on that.

Unfortunately, fame is already changing him.

The beer garden is now “the set.”

Going outside is “on location.”

Taking the bins out is no longer a job — it’s a personal appearance.

And if we want him to cover a shift, apparently we have to talk to his people.

I don’t know who his people are.

Until Wednesday, his people were us. 😂

We’re now presumably only days away from a rider, an agent and the autobiography:

BIN THERE, DONE THAT

My Journey from General Waste to Local Legend

Available in absolutely no good bookshops whatsoever. 😂

Netflix documentary apparently pending.

And spare a thought for Mackenzie.

Monday: Matt’s girlfriend.

Friday:

SHE’S A WAG.

Most WAGs earn the title because their other half plays professional football.

Mackenzie got there because hers spent 30 seconds in a wheelie bin. 😂

We’re expecting the oversized sunglasses, designer handbag and VIP treatment any day now.

Although I’m not entirely sure BIN-GATE comes with a hospitality box at Elland Road.

Still…

A WAG’s a WAG. Don’t question the route to the top. 😂⭐

So as we head into the weekend, it’s time to bring our accidental, ridiculous trilogy to a close.

One complaint. One bin. Three days. One accidental celebrity and one unsuspecting WAG.

🗑️⭐😂

A huge thank you to everyone who’s followed BIN-GATE, laughed along with us and — unbelievably — actually come into the White Swan after reading it. ❤️

Normal service will now resume as we all get back to taking our jobs very seriously and definitely NOT playing at being a pub.

And we’ll be ready to welcome you into the weekend at…

YEADON’S NOW SLIGHTLY FAMOUS BAR & HIGHLY QUESTIONABLE WASTE-MANAGEMENT FACILITY. 😂🗑️🍻

Come in, grab a drink and say hello to Team Swan.

If you spot Matt, please don’t feed his ego. Don’t shout ‘KING OF KERB’ at him over the set.

If you spot Mackenzie, please respect the WAG lifestyle.

And whatever you do…

STAY OUT OF THE BINS.

We’ve still got a pub to pretend to run. 😂❤️

BIN-GATE 2026 — ENDGAME.

The trilogy is complete. The star is born.

Not just a pub — we’re your community hub.

🗑️👑 GAME OF PUBS: BIN-GATE 2026 — DAY TWO

Well… things have escalated.

After discovering yesterday that we’ve apparently only been “playing at being a pub” for circa 15 years, naturally my first thought was:

EXCELLENT. REFUNDS.

HMRC have confirmed that “we were only playing” is NOT sufficient grounds for getting 15 years of VAT back.

Absolutely no sense of humour. 😂

Business Rates?

Still stand.

Then I tried Sky Sports.

Surely if we’re only pretending to be a pub, we don’t need a real commercial subscription?

Rejected. No appeal. Not even a VAR check.

Apparently we may be playing pubs…

but Sky are playing for keeps. 😂

So it appears we’re going to have to carry on.

Meanwhile, BIN-GATE itself has moved on considerably.

Yesterday Matt was being told:

“Matthew. You’re 23. Get out of the bin.”

Today…

HE’S MADE MERCH.

No period of reflection.

No keeping a low profile.

Straight to retail.

At this rate, by Friday he’ll be on Dragon’s Den:

“Hello Dragons. I’m Matt and I’m asking for £50,000 for 10% of BinGate Ltd.”

“And what’s your turnover, Matt?”

“Depends how fast they push the bin.”

😂😂😂

And knowing Matt, he’ll arrive in it.

We can also confirm that despite the successful test run, wheelie bins will NOT currently be replacing company vehicles.

Although with zero road tax, zero fuel and excellent boot space, management is reviewing this decision. 🗑️😂

So there we are:

HMRC have our money.
Business Rates want our money.
Sky Sports want even more of our money.
Matt is now making money.

And somehow I’m still paying for everything.

Long live GAME OF PUBS. 👑🗑️

Yeadon’s least professional waste-management facility remains open.

The beer is real.
The food is real.
The bills are painfully real.

The professionalism around the bins remains questionable.

❤️ Not just a pub — we’re your community hub.
