I’m running a half marathon in Redcar to raise funds for the Cancer treatment place that have been treating my brother Denis
My brother has stage 4 mouth cancer and has undergone radiation therapy at Rosemere

I wasn’t going to share this on here as it’s a personal thing but with one week to go I thought why not?
My brother Denis is fighting stage 4 oral cancer. His treatment has been radiotherapy and unfortunately he hasn’t had the result we were all desperate for, so he may now have to have immunotherapy
All this has been done at an amazing little place in Preston called Rosemere Cancer Foundation

I’m running a half marathon on my birthday next week and I’m trying to raise as much as possible to donate to Rosemere, it pays mainly for things that bring comfort to the patients whilst undergoing this gruelling treatment

If you can spare a quid I’d be grateful but more importantly so will the patients fighting this disgusting disease

Just a little introduction for the new followers
We are a vegan family, cooking and serving vegan food in our vegan kitchen!
We are open Friday 11 till 9 (last order) 7.30
Saturday and Sunday 10 till 6
Monday 11 till 3
We have a varied menu from breakfast, brunch lunch and dinner. All of our food is freshly prepared each morning.
The menu is always smaller on Mondays as it’s not busy enough to prep and make everything on Monday morning
We offer an outside catering service and can cater your wedding, birthday, family get together

We heavily rely on our vegan customers and we appreciate every penny you spend with us

We can 100% guarantee that no cross contamination will ever occur here! We are vegans cooking for vegans!

Thank you for a super busy Sunday. We are open from 11 today (bank holiday Monday)

Please can we just reiterate again that we are not gluten free cafe, we are a vegan cafe who offer some gf options and they vary from day to day with availability.
I’m pretty sure we are one of a very few places in Leeds where you can enjoy vegan gluten free food. My priority is that we serve vegan food not vegan gluten free food but we work hard to make the menu work for people with all manner of dietary restrictions

The negativity we received yesterday from a table wasn’t necessary and actually upset staff members particularly Maria who was doing her last ever shift with us.

Today we say goodbye to this beautiful young lady, she leaves to embark on her new life at uni. Maria has been an absolute pleasure to work with over this last year. Although we are very sad to see her go we are very proud and very pleased that she chose scoffs as her first ever job! I’m sure many of you who have been looked after by Maria will agree that she’s been more than an asset to scoffs. What an incredibly kind person Maria is we wish you well . Please don’t be a stranger and hopefully you will come back for the holidays to do a few shifts and update us on your new life x Ria and Maria have formed a beautiful friendship and I know they will miss each other quite a lot

We are not closing down, we are simply trying to relocate and in the meantime we will be very much open and serving all your favourite scoffs food!
Ria has kindly agreed to stay at scoffs until that process is on the go! It could take a long time! I just don’t want people finding out from anyone but me!

Long post!!!!

As most of you are aware we started this business (tracy and Ria / mum and daughter) around 6 years ago.
Ria was very young at 21 and as we know people change especially from ages 20 to 30.
After 6 hard but glorious years of making some of the best vegan grub I’ve ever had, Ria wants to change direction in her life- she’s at the age where it’s a now or never situation I suppose?
Ria wants to work with children, specifically kids with additional needs and she’s wanted to do that for a while now. After a heart to heart and some soul searching she has decided to leave scoffs. I’m obviously gutted, but I’m also proud of her for what she’s helped achieve and also for having the gumption to start over in a new career.

Obviously that’s made me look at big scoffs in a way I never wanted to, can I do this on my own? In this space?
In addition to that, You have all witnessed me moaning and whining about business rates going up and Andy Burnham being slow on making that better for hospitality on the whole, added with rising staffing costs etc etc I could go on and on , I won’t!
I stand by my decision that little scoffs was too small but big scoffs all though not too big, is configured wrong for me to run it with my eyes everywhere as they should be as a business owner

Long story short is
Rias leaving and I’m relocating!
I have been looking for suitable premises in an area where I think will do better with local footfall as Horsforth doesn’t seem to be that in all honesty

This business is built by vegans, for the vegans however it would be nice if we could get the locals on side and we would have been able to open more hours and make this restaurant more viable! But alas they are not on side and make a quick exit as soon as they find out it’s vegan!

I’m absolutely determined to make scoffs a long term success, I’m a committed vegan and equally stubborn
This is my absolute best chance to get this right!

The new location won’t be far from here I can’t say where yet as it’s not set in stone

Big scoffs is actively on the market but I am not selling Scoffs the brand, just a really well fit out kitchen and restaurant ready to go
