The Dragon Knot Studio will be at the Spring festival at Exeter University on the 17th Feb. Year of the Horse. Starts at 12 finishes at 2pm. Fireworks at 6.45pm. Looking forward to meeting the students and giving a free small teach to anyone who wants to give knotting a try. I will be back at Tavistock market on Wednesday 4th March selling my Ornamental knotted jewellery. I also sell cord and gemstone beads.

The Dragon Knot Studio is looking forward to 17th February. Chinese Spring Festival at Exeter University. Come along and have a good time with the students celebrating the spring festival and later in the evening a firework display. I will be there selling my Chinese Knotted jewellery and a
'have a go' table where you can try your hand at knotting. This will be my 15th year at the festival and it is always a great day.

Dragon Knot Studio. Hi everyone if you are looking at this as the Red Chair Cafe from now on I am posting as The Dragon Knot Studio on this platform. Latest info, I am on my 9 month all clear and all is well. Mervyn and I am now at Tavistock market on a Wednesday at the Pannier Market. We would love to see any of our cafe customers (we have already seen quite a few) Please check days with us over the Christmas and New Year period. We will not be there Jan or Feb due to weather and other commitments.

For those keeping an eye on our page just a quick update. Deborah saw her consultant on Tuesday and the good news is that she is now in remission. Next hospital visit 3 months for a check up. Great start to 2025.

If you are looking at our page we are very sorry to say that the Cafe is no longer operating, our lease was up and with my health problems we decided that closing was the best for us both. Hope you find somewhere else to have a meal in Launceston a lovely little town that we have enjoyed being a part of for the past seven years.

The Red Chair Café will close it’s doors as a café on Saturday 28th December. We are open as normal today Boxing Day, Friday & Saturday.
After 6 ½ years – 1,480 days of being open we are almost at the end of our lease.
Running our own café was a lifelong ambition for the both of us.
Thank you to all who have made our time in Launceston enjoyable We will miss all our customers, but the time has come to retire.
If you can not make it this week, we will be onsite for a few hours each day next week serving drinks and selling off equipment, furniture, artwork etc.

There we are! After the better part of seven years the Red Chair Cafe is now close to it’s final month. Its business as usual with full menu up to and including December 7th, after that as far as meals are concerned it will be lighter items and selling from remaining stock. Christmas week we will be open Dec 23rd, 24th, 26th, 27th& 28th. Our final day! Mervyn’s 66th Birthday and coming of age as a Senior Citizen.
We can’t pretend that the last five months have not been challenging, the many well wishes from our customers for Deborah is heart-warming. Treatments are now suspended until the new year and Deb does hope to be at the café some of the remaining days. We would love to see as many of our customers as possible both regular, occasional, and lapsed due to us no longer open all week

We hope everyone had a good ending to the half term week, we apologise to anyone who tried to come to the cafe on Saturday but once again I ended up in hospital. I am home again now but please do keep an eye on our opening days. Be happy and enjoy life you don't know what is around the corner.

We are ever so pleased to again this year to receive Tripadvisor Travellers Choice award. This prestigious award is granted to the top 10% of listed establishments and shows our total commitment to customer service. This year’s award is particularly sweet as we have now achieved this sought after award for five years in succession being first awarded to us in 2020. Our thanks go to all the people who gave us such glowing reviews each one filling us with great pride.
What has not been so joyous this year is the seriousness of Deborah’s poor health since June. With regular hospital appointments sometimes resulting admission and it has been a struggle meaning fewer days we not been able to open as regularly as we did.
We are now open Fridays & Saturdays only. We are though hoping to be open Tuesday 29th October through to Saturday 2nd November. We will publish closer to the time our open days and food and drink available during November and December as we wind down the café ahead of the lease termination at the end of the year.
