An exciting opportunity for someone?
I’m tentatively putting this here before going to open market. Giving those of you who have followed our journey, visited and supported us here at the garden time to consider whether you might be interested.
We are very sadly giving up our tenancy at the Walled Garden at Arkleton, near Langholm, this Winter/next Spring. It has been my passion for the last 6 years as we have bought it back from a field of weeds to a functioning cut flower garden. It has fulfilled many of my dreams to have been here and achieved what we have but it’s time for a new adventure and for someone else to thrive in the garden.
I’d love to find someone who could take the garden on and forward and continue to build on our hard work, and to make it their own. The local community have been so supportive and I’d hate to see the door of the garden closed again completely.
The house is a 3 bed chocolate box cottage with a 3000sq/m walled garden. The garden currently has around 120 established shrub roses, a maturing peony bed, lots of herbaceous perennials, largely grown for cutting and plenty of annual beds. The Mackenzie and Moncur greenhouse (72sq/m) has been restored and is beautiful! There is a small polytunnel on site. There are many useful outbuildings including a toilet for visitors.
There is also an option to buy the wagon that I built a few years ago and which has been a great hit and source of income.
Details of the tenancy agreement haven’t been drawn up yet and will need further thought and consideration, however, in the meantime if anyone would like to register interest then please contact me at [email protected].
