From international concert halls… to Blind Jack’s.

Every now and then, something completely unexpected happens.

What started as a conversation over a shared appreciation for Augustiner led to an idea I genuinely never thought would become reality.

International concert cellist Dr. Patrick Bellah suggested performing an intimate concert upstairs at Blind Jack’s.

I honestly couldn’t believe he was serious…

But on Sunday 23rd August, it’s happening.

This won’t be a concert hall.

There’ll be no stage.
No barriers.
No microphones.

Just world-class live music, performed only a few feet away in one of the UK’s Official Best Beer Pubs.

With fewer than 30 guests, this promises to be one of the most unique afternoons we’ve ever hosted.

Whether you’re a lifelong lover of classical music or simply enjoy experiencing something completely different, we’d love to welcome you.

A customer insulted our old quiz poster so effectively that I accidentally spent 10 weeks replacing it by hand.

The quiz is Luke and Tom’s department.
I just handled the crosshatching, gold bits, Victorian nonsense, and avoiding beer barrels.

Was it necessary? Probably not.
Am I pretty chuffed with it? Unfortunately, yes.

Luke & Tom’s Silent Quiz is the last Tuesday every month, 7–9pm. Next date 📅 August 25th

No microphones. No shouting over your pint. No idea what happens if you win. Ask Luke and Tom, I just drew the poster.

I always find these posts the hardest to write.
They have a habit of sounding a bit predictable, and anyone can say they’re proud of their team.
But we genuinely are… (See? Sounds a bit cliché already, doesn’t it? 😅)
Blind Jack’s has somehow brought together a group of people who, on paper, probably shouldn’t have ended up in the same room. Different ages, backgrounds, personalities and completely different life experiences. Yet through a shared pride in what we do and more than our fair share of pints after work, they’ve become genuine friends who just happen to work together.
They’re the sort of people who take ridiculous pride in pulling the perfect pint, remembering your favourite drink, making guests feel welcome or staying behind because someone else needs a hand. None of that goes unnoticed.
Hospitality is often described as a stepping stone job. The pay isn’t brilliant, the hours are long, weekends disappear and your social life usually follows. Trust me on that one.
But somewhere along the way, this place became much more than somewhere to work. It’s built genuine friendships, plenty of laughs mostly at my expense, and that’s just Alice 😉 more than a few ridiculous memories and, hopefully, friendships that’ll last long after the last pint has been poured.
So seeing Blind Jack’s featured in The Telegraph’s Best Pubs in the UK 2026 genuinely means a great deal. I know it’ll mean a lot to the BJ team too 🤦‍♂️ Yeah, I may need to rethink that abbreviation.
Thank you to everyone who’s walked through our door, every member of our incredible team, past and present, and the fantastic breweries and suppliers we’re lucky enough to work with.Every conversation at the bar, recommendation to a friend and pint you’ve chosen to drink with us has helped make BJ’s what it is today. This recognition belongs to all of you just as much as it does to us.
Now I want some love from you lot. If you’ve made it this far, you might enjoy knowing I’ll read every comment repeatedly because I crave social-media attention and it gets me out of doing work 😅

Years in the making.

This Friday, Blind Jack’s becomes the first venue in Yorkshire to pour Augustiner Lagerbier Helles on draught.

Brewed in Munich since 1328 and regarded by many as the benchmark for Bavarian lager.

We can’t wait to share it with you.

This is not just another new beer.

From Friday, Blind Jack’s will become one of only a tiny handful of incredible pubs in the United Kingdom serving Augustiner Lagerbier Hell on draught.

Founded in Munich in 1328, Augustiner is Bavaria’s oldest brewery and is regarded by countless beer enthusiasts as the benchmark against which all pale lagers are judged.

For decades, Augustiner has been fiercely protective of its reputation and selective about where its beer is served. Bringing draught Augustiner to Britain has taken years of dedication from our fiends , who worked tirelessly to earn the brewery’s trust.

Even now, not every pub can have it.

The brewery carefully selects venues that share its commitment to quality, beer care and serving standards. Being chosen is something we are immensely proud of.

To make this happen, we’ve invested significantly in our cellar and dispense systems to ensure every pint is served exactly as intended.

So why all the fuss?

Because this isn’t just another lager.

It’s one of the world’s most celebrated beers, produced by one of the world’s most respected breweries, and from Friday it will be available on draught in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire.

If you’ve never understood why people get excited about lager, this is probably the beer that will explain it.

A slightly surreal afternoon at Blind Jack’s as we had a surprise royal visitor in town.

Well… we suppose it is tourist season.

To be fair, Knaresborough Castle is a must see… after ourselves, of course.

It’s not every day you’ve got a royal visit, the UK’s Best Beer Pub and a record breaking heatwave.

That’s the wonderful thing about Knaresborough.

And if you think today was busy… The great Knaresborough Bed Race is coming up real soon!
