Black Country Ales is seeking a licensee for The Three Fishes in Bayston Hill.

Located around three miles south of the historic town of Shrewsbury, Bayston Hill is a large village on the edge of the Shropshire Hills, offering the character of a village while remaining within easy reach of Shrewsbury.

The Three Fishes is a traditional village pub that has long served its local community. Following significant damage caused when a lorry struck the building in November 2024, we're rebuilding and refurbishing the pub ahead of its reopening next month.

We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in pubs, people and well-kept cask ale. Experience is preferred but not essential.

High standards and a strong work ethic are most important.

The role would suit a couple, though individual applicants are welcome. Accommodation is provided above the premises.

CAMRA recognition for our pubs across the Midlands

Now that this year's CAMRA County Pub of the Year results have been announced across the Midlands, we wanted to recognise three of our pubs which have achieved placings.

Following its earlier success as Wolverhampton CAMRA's City Pub of the Year 2026, The Vine in Wednesfield has been named runner-up in the West Midlands County Pub of the Year, a considerable achievement for the pub and its team.

For three of our pubs to receive County Pub of the Year placings across three different parts of the Midlands is something we're particularly pleased to see, and a real credit to the licensees and teams behind them.

The Roebuck, Brimfield reopened last Thursday and has now completed its first weekend as a Black Country Ales pub.

Following an extensive refurbishment, work has been carried out with care to retain the traditional character of this Grade II listed building, giving Brimfield and the surrounding area its local pub back.

The Roebuck sits at the heart of Brimfield, a short drive south of Ludlow. Licensees Helen and Steve are now welcoming customers following the reopening.

The Orange Tree Hereford will be joining in with the first Medieval Hereford Festival, taking place in Hereford on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August.

To mark the occasion, our Chain Ale will be known as Chainmail at The Orange Tree throughout the festival weekend. Licensee Malc is pictured with the beer and its new pump clip.

Originally named in recognition of the Black Country’s chainmaking heritage, it seemed a fitting change for a weekend of medieval festivities.

With battle re-enactments, a medieval living village, traditional crafts and historical demonstrations taking place around Hereford Cathedral and Cathedral Close, there will be plenty to see across the weekend.

If you’re heading into Hereford for the festival, call in at The Orange Tree and look out for Chainmail, available for one weekend only.

The Roebuck, Brimfield, Herefordshire, is now open as a Black Country Ales pub.

A small pre-opening last night gave licensees Helen and Steve the opportunity to welcome guests and show them around the newly refurbished pub.

Following an extensive refurbishment, this traditional village pub is now ready to open its doors to customers once again.

We look forward to seeing residents and visitors at The Roebuck from midday today and over the weekend.

It is one day until The Roebuck, Brimfield opens as a Black Country Ales pub.

The final touches are being made ahead of opening tomorrow, following an extensive refurbishment.

Licensees Helen and Steve are ready to welcome customers back to The Roebuck, and we wish them every success as they take on this much-loved village pub.

We look forward to opening the doors at midday tomorrow, Thursday 13 August.

This Thursday, 13 August, sees two tap takeovers at our pubs in Hereford and Ludlow, with a range of ales from guest breweries available into the weekend.

Fellow Black Country brewers Fixed Wheel Brewery will be cycling into Hereford for a one-off tap takeover at The Orange Tree, bringing a selection of their ales to the bar.

Meanwhile at The Unicorn in Ludlow, our Summer Series of Salopian Brewery Tap Takeovers continues, with a selection of Salopian ales available across the pumps.

Both begin this Thursday, with the beers available into the weekend while stocks last.

Congratulations again to Lucy, Shaun, and the team at The New Inn Tutbury, who have now been formally presented with their East Staffordshire CAMRA Country Pub of the Year award.

A fitting recognition of the hard work that goes into the pub, and the warm welcome and well-kept real ales that have made The New Inn a favourite with locals and visitors alike.

With just under one week to go until opening on Thursday 13 August, work continues throughout The Roebuck, Brimfield as the refurbishment nears completion.

This traditional village pub in Brimfield is beginning to take shape once again.

Outside, the final coats of paint are being completed, the new signwriting is now in place, and a new outdoor seating area is being prepared.

Inside, the traditional oak bar is taking shape as refurbishment work continues throughout the building.

We look forward to welcoming you through the doors next Thursday.

Congratulations to Andy and the team at the The Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford, on recently being named Runner-up in the Heart of Staffordshire CAMRA Urban Pub of the Year Awards 2026.

A proper town centre pub, the Shrewsbury Arms has built a reputation for its well-kept real ales, traditional surroundings and warm welcome.

The award is a fitting recognition of the dedication of Andy and the team, together with the continued support of the pub's regulars and visitors.
