The Black Country Ales Brewery has been established through a genuine love of traditional ales. We brew our outstanding selection of beers using only the finest ingredients to the highest possible standards. Our acclaimed master brewer believes that the way to make the perfect pint is a no compromise combination of time, passion and dedication to the art. Brewing started on the site around 1834 by

Edward Guest (a butcher by trade) as a side line for his local customers. The Guest family brewed for many years before passing the business on to Eli Bradley in 1870. The Bradleys carried on the tradition of producing hand-crafted real ales of quality for six generations but this finally ceased just after World War II and the brewery was moth balled. Today much of the original equipment remains on view alongside all new micro brewery plant, and so, once again, this gem of West Midlands brewing heritage is serving up the finest hand crafted Black Country Ales to discerning drinkers all over the county. Our estate of Black Country Traditional Inns stretches across the West Midlands and Warwickshire providing communities with our renowned welcome and warmth.

To celebrate Yorkshire Day, Windmill Inn, Rugby is serving guest ales from renowned Yorkshire breweries across the weekend, including Kirkstall, Yorkshire Heart, Mallinsons, Wilde Child, Saltaire, Stancill, and Black Sheep.

Recently named Rugby Camra Pub of the Year, The Windmill is run by Gemma and Andy. With Andy originally from Leeds, and both keen Leeds Rhinos supporters, they've chosen to showcase a selection of beers from his home county.

Fundraising for the Motor Neurone Disease Association will also take place throughout the weekend, continuing the pub's ongoing support in memory of former Leeds Rhinos player Rob Burrow.

Whether you're a Yorkshire native, a real ale enthusiast, or both, call in over the weekend and enjoy a taste of Yorkshire's brewing tradition.

Tomorrow, The New Inn Tutbury hosts the next of our tap takeovers with Titanic Brewery, as part of a series taking place across a selection of our pubs.

Fresh from being named East Staffordshire CAMRA Country Pub of the Year, The New Inn continues its commitment to well-kept cask ale, warm hospitality and traditional surroundings.

Situated just off Tutbury's historic High Street, The New Inn is a traditional village pub at the heart of the local community, with a peaceful beer terrace to the rear overlooking one of the village's old narrow lanes.

A selection of Titanic cask ales will be available at the bar alongside our own range, bringing together well-known favourites and darker styles.

A representative from Titanic Brewery will be in attendance during the early evening, giving customers the opportunity to learn more about the brewery and its beers.

The Telegraph has published its Best Pubs in the UK 2026 guide, with four Black Country Ales pubs featured this year.

Included in the guide are:

• The Craven Arms, Birmingham
• The Jewellers Arms, Birmingham
• The Prince of Wales, Birmingham
• The Pretty Bricks, Walsall

This year also sees The Prince of Wales and The Pretty Bricks included for the first time.

The guide celebrates many of the qualities that define traditional pubs, from well-kept cask ale and welcoming surroundings to traditional character and a strong sense of place.

Pictured is a corner of The Pretty Bricks, where photographs commemorate the founding of the local CAMRA branch in 1972, a piece of the pub's history highlighted in the guide.

Congratulations to the licensees and teams at all four pubs on the recognition.

The Roebuck will reopen as a Black Country Ales pub on Thursday 13 August.

Situated in the north Herefordshire village of Brimfield, around five miles south of Ludlow and close to the meeting point of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire, The Roebuck is a Grade II listed village pub that has long served its local community.

In just three weeks' time, the village of Brimfield will once again have its local.

Work is continuing on an extensive programme of refurbishment ahead of the reopening.

New licensees Helen and Steve are looking forward to welcoming customers from Thursday 13 August as The Roebuck begins its next chapter as a Black Country Ales pub.

Some good news from Worcester.

While many pubs continue to face challenges, The Imperial Tavern has built a loyal following by remaining true to the traditional pub experience.

Having run the pub for almost nine years, Fred Jones, alongside his partner Denise has established The Imperial as a welcoming local, known for its well-kept real ale and strong connection with the community.

We were pleased to see Worcester News recently feature The Imperial, highlighting the work put into the pub and its continued support from customers.

Congratulations to Fred and Denise on a well-deserved piece of local recognition.

Last month, John Brabbins of The Craven Arms in Birmingham brewed a special beer to mark his 70th birthday with the team at Copper Beech Brewing Company in Worcester.

Named Brabbins, the 5% Elderflower Pale Ale saw John help choose both the beer style and its name, while the pump clip artwork takes inspiration from the distinctive frontage of The Craven Arms.

It has been on the bar at The Craven Arms this week, with four more still to come. It is also beginning to appear at selected Black Country Ales pubs across the estate, so keep an eye out for it if you're visiting one of our pubs.

We'd once again like to thank Dan and the team at Copper Beech Brewing Company for their hospitality, and we hope customers enjoy the finished beer.
