“No… my mum doesn’t still own The Whittington & Cat🍻

She sold it back in 2020 to one of her best friends, Gill — and a lot of you will remember them from Four in a Bed all those years ago.

We absolutely love Gill and her amazing team so much ❤️
She’s kept the pub just how people remember it… great homemade food, lovely atmosphere and a proper good pint 🍷✨

And yes… she still has the lovely en-suite bedrooms above the pub if you fancy staying over too 🛏️

So if you’re in town and fancy a Sunday lunch or a few drinks, make sure you pop in and support her ❤️

🚨 200,000 SIGNATURES AND COUNTING! 🚨

The campaign has now smashed through an incredible 200,000 signatures, sending a clear message to Westminster that hospitality businesses need support.

Pubs, restaurants, cafés and hospitality venues across the UK are facing unprecedented cost pressures. Energy costs, business rates, National Insurance increases and rising wage bills continue to squeeze businesses that are at the heart of our communities.

A reduction in VAT for hospitality would provide a vital boost to an industry that employs millions of people, supports local economies and serves as the social fabric of towns and villages across the country.

This isn’t just about protecting businesses. It’s about protecting jobs, communities and the places where people come together.

We’ve had a few people ask about customer toilets, so I just wanted to give you a little update.

As a retail garden centre, we’re not legally required to provide public toilets, which is why the previous owners never installed them during the 30 years they were here. Since taking over 18 months ago, it’s something we’ve always known we wanted to address because we agree that customer facilities are important.

The good news is that public toilets are part of our future plans and will be installed when our tea room project is completed. Unfortunately, we simply can’t do everything at once, and we’ve had to prioritise improvements in stages.

In the meantime, there are facilities available very nearby. The Bluebell Inn Old Ellerby is less than a minute’s drive away, and Railway Inn is a four minute away and also serves food if you fancy a bite to eat while you’re out and about.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support while we work towards making Stag Garden Centre even better. We really do appreciate it. 💚

We’ve got some exciting news… our brand new Summer Menu is officially underway and it’s all starting to come together nicely ☀️

Over the past few months we’ve listened to lots of our regulars and made sure to bring back some of your favourite dishes alongside some fresh new additions.
