Hi everyone,
For those who don’t know me, I’m the owner of Meltham Fisheries.
Running a chippy isn’t just about frying fish and chips. It’s early mornings, long days, rising costs, paperwork, cleaning, ordering stock, and constantly trying to make sure every customer leaves happy. It’s hard work, but it’s something I genuinely love doing.
The fish and chip industry is facing some huge challenges right now. What was once considered an affordable takeaway has, sadly, become more of a luxury treat for many families. Rising costs across fish, potatoes, packaging, energy and just about everything else have put pressure on chippies across the country. Many shops are struggling, and some have even had to close their doors.
That’s why I’m always looking for ways to offer great quality food at the best possible value. One of those ways is by introducing Coley alongside our traditional haddock. Coley is a delicious flaky white fish from the cod family, and it allows us to offer a more affordable option without compromising on quality.
Every decision I make is with our customers in mind. I know times are tight, and I want Meltham Fisheries to remain a place where families can still enjoy a proper fish and chip supper without breaking the bank.
Most importantly, I want to say thank you. Every customer who walks through our door, places an order, leaves a review, likes a post, or recommends us to a friend helps support a small local business. It genuinely means more than you know.
