A little pinch-me moment for us at The Docks…

We’re absolutely delighted to be featured in Food Lifestyle Magazine.

When we took on this beautiful old village pub back in 2018, the ambition was simple: create the sort of place we’d want to visit ourselves — great food, great drinks, genuine hospitality and a warm welcome for everyone who walks through the door.

To see the Dinnington Docks story, our food, our team, and even George make it into print is something we’re incredibly proud of.

A huge thank you to our amazing team, our local suppliers, and most importantly our customers. Whether you’ve joined us for a pint, a Sunday lunch, a special celebration or simply popped in for a chat, you’ve all played a part in this journey.

Independent pubs only exist because communities support them, and for that we are genuinely grateful.

Here’s to the next chapter. 🍻

Utopian British Pale Ale – 4.4%

A beautifully balanced pale ale that showcases exactly what British brewing does best. Bright golden in the glass with a lasting white head, it opens with aromas of hedgerow flowers, fresh citrus and a gentle biscuit malt character.

On the palate, there’s a lovely interplay between crisp British hops and a clean malt backbone. Expect notes of orange zest, subtle stone fruit and a touch of honeyed malt, all leading to a refreshing, dry finish with just enough bitterness to keep you reaching for the next sip.

Exceptionally drinkable, wonderfully balanced and packed with character without ever becoming overpowering. A modern British pale ale brewed with restraint, skill and confidence.

Verdict: A superb session beer. Fresh, elegant and dangerously easy to enjoy. One of the finest examples of a contemporary British Pale Ale you’ll find on cask.

Rating: ★★★★★

“Proof that British hops and British malt can still produce something truly special.” 🍺

Meet Bryony 🖤

Some dogs leave a paw print on your heart the moment they walk through the door, and Bryony is one of them.

Bryony was destined for an extraordinary career as a Guide Dog. Her puppy raisers dedicated countless hours, endless patience, and an enormous amount of love to prepare her for a life helping others. In the end, she narrowly missed out at the final medical stage.

Whilst that may have closed one chapter, it certainly doesn’t define her story.

Every time Bryony visits The Docks, we’re reminded what a wonderful dog she is — calm, gentle, beautifully mannered, and always with those kind eyes that seem to understand everything. We absolutely love seeing her.

What I admire just as much are the incredible people who raise these dogs. They open their homes and hearts, invest years of commitment, then prepare to hand them back so they can hopefully go on to change someone’s life. That level of selflessness is truly remarkable and deserves far more recognition than it receives.

Bryony may not wear the Guide Dog harness, but she’s still a very special girl and a perfect example of the love, dedication and care that goes into every dog in the programme.

We’re always delighted when she trots through the door. ❤️

🍷 NEW BY THE GLASS 🍷

We’re delighted to introduce something a little different to our by-the-glass selection…

🇵🇹 Portal da Calçada Patusco Vinho Verde, Portugal

Fresh, vibrant and utterly moreish, this fantastic Portuguese white is bursting with bright citrus, fresh lime and orchard fruit notes, finished with the slightest natural spritz that makes it incredibly refreshing.

Light, crisp and full of character, it’s the perfect wine for a sunny afternoon in the garden, a leisurely lunch, or simply a glass with friends. If you haven’t discovered great Vinho Verde before, this is a wonderful place to start.

One sip and you’ll understand why we’re so excited to add it to the list.

Available now by the glass and bottle at The Dinnington Docks.

🥂 Crisp • Refreshing • Citrus Driven • Summer in a Glass

🐾 THE CANOPY IS BACK! 🐾

After a bit of lifting, pulling, stretching, adjusting and the occasional bit of colourful language, the garden canopy is finally back up at The Dinnington Docks and ready for the summer ahead! ☀️🍻

Of course, no project is complete without a quality inspection from George, the pub Airedale, who spent the afternoon carefully reviewing my workmanship. So far he hasn’t raised any formal complaints… although the look on his face suggests he’s keeping his options open. 🐶😂

A huge thank you to Andy Harker and Matt Crouch for all their help getting it erected. Couldn’t have done it without you both.

And a special mention to Wayne, who did eventually arrive… just in time to admire everyone else’s hard work. Your contribution has been noted and awarded the appropriate level of praise. 😉🍺

The garden is looking fantastic and the canopy means we’re ready for whatever the British summer decides to throw at us — sunshine, showers, or all four seasons in an afternoon!
