π Why is Bellingham here?
Thereβs an interesting storyβ¦
When humans first settled this area, they followed the river valleys. Settlements had to be just the right size: not too large to risk starvation, and not too small to risk in-breeding. A community with a radius of about three miles was considered ideal, as everything they needed β fruit, berries, bark, grazing land for livestock β came from their surroundings.
So when it was time to form a new settlement, they would simply move about six miles along the valley.

And thatβs why Bellingham is where it isβ¦ or so the story goes!
