One's an 8% tripel that's been charming people since 1966.
The other's a 7.5% dark Belgian that punches well above its weight.

FOUR DAYS TO GO. 🥨

Hertford's Real Oktoberfest. Monday 12th to Saturday 17th October.

Six Munich breweries. Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräu, Löwenbräu, Paulaner and Spaten. The actual Oktoberfest b**rs, brewed for the festival in Munich.

Five of them on draught and in bottle. Augustiner in bottle only.

We're the only pub in Hertford pouring all six. Plenty of places will sell you a Munich b**r. That's not the same as the Oktoberfest b**r. And if you're after thousands of people and a b**r brewed in Hemel Hempstead, you know where to go. If you want the real thing, come to the Old Cross.

I've just got back from Bamberg, and I've put a video up about it.

I flew into Nuremberg, got the train over and spent two days doing what I always do. Finding brewhouses, playing cribbage and butchering the German b**r names.

I've been wanting to go for ages. It's one of the best b**r towns I've been to and hardly anyone in the UK talks about it. Schlenkerla gets all the attention, but Spezial, Fässla, Keesmann and Mahr's are all brewing right there, and you can sit in the brewhouse with a pint in your hand.

Somewhere between a saison and a sour.
Proper hazy. Proper punchy.
