Our wonderful Vet team! Always happy to host, we have Cluck Club plans for July in the works too!
🐮🪱Last week, the Calf Club met at Trerise Farm Shop & Cafe for a workshop on parasites. The evening started with a walk out to the fields to talk through, and then practise, collecting a representative sample of fresh faeces. 💩
They were joined by Paul from Norbrook, who gave a talk on parasites: what they are, how they affect young stock, how to control them without relying solely on wormers, how to prevent resistance to wormers, and an insight into where the industry is heading when it comes to dispensing wormers.
The evening finished with a live demonstration of how to carry out a faecal egg count using the samples collected earlier. This was done using a microscope connected to a screen so everyone could watch and follow along. 🔬
If anyone would like to discuss or review their farm parasite control programme — or create one if you don’t already have one in place — please get in touch on the usual number. Equally, please remember you are always welcome to drop in samples for testing; we just ask that you give us a heads-up beforehand so that no samples get left out in the heat 🥵
A big thank you to Trerise again for having us, brilliant hosts as always ☕️, and to Paul for his talk and pasties 😋
