Just a little reminder that our kitchen is closed this morning while our kitchen team attend a funeral.

The café is still open though, and Janet has been in bright and early making sure the counter is looking as tempting as ever! 😍

Today you'll find:

🧀 Freshly baked cheese scones
🍇 Fresh fruit scones
🍰 Biscoff cheesecake
🥟 Homemade pasties
🌭 Sausage rolls
☕ Great coffee and a warm welcome

The kitchen will be reopening in time for lunch, so normal service will resume later today.

Sadly due to all the kitchen staff attending a funeral, the kitchen will be closed for breakfasts, reopening for lunch (11.30am onwards) on Friday the 12th June.

The Cafe will be open for drinks and counter food.

Today's dilemma...

Do you go for the crowd favourite?

🥙 Slow-cooked pulled pork piled into a warm flatbread, served with homemade coleslaw and crisps. Messy, hearty and absolutely worth it.

Or keep things light with our Ploughman's Platter 🧀 A generous board of cheese, ham, homemade chutney, pickles, fruit, bread and a Scotch egg – perfect for a leisurely lunch in the sunshine.

And if you're saving room for cake (which you should be), today's Rhubarb & Almond Bake is made with rhubarb grown by Janet herself on her allotment. From plot to plate doesn't get much more local than that! 🌱

Sun's out, the garden is looking lovely, and lunch is waiting.

Spring may have arrived… but there’s still definitely room for comfort food.

Today we’ve got a beautiful homemade lemon cheesecake — light, creamy and packed with fresh citrus zing on a buttery biscuit base 🍋

And if you’re after something a little more hearty, our pork & leek and Cumberland sausage casserole is just the ticket. Slow cooked with mixed beans in a rich tomato sauce and served with warm crusty bread for mopping up every last bit.

Who’s got that Friday feeling then? 🙌

It’s market day in Helmsley and the counter is looking dangerously tempting today…

Fresh out the oven we’ve got a sticky, rich double ginger & rum loaf — finished with a thick drizzle icing that’s absolutely not behaving itself 😍

And for the traditionalists, Janet’s classic almond Bakewell is sat there waiting patiently too… buttery pastry, fruity middle and that proper almond hit.

Honestly… if you leave here hungry today that’s on you 😂

Bank holiday weekend incoming… and we’ve got the good stuff waiting for you ☀️

The sun is shining, there’s a three-day weekend ahead for some lucky souls 😂 and the counter is looking rather lovely.

Today we have a beautiful summer fruits cheesecake, piled high with berries, plus Mediterranean roasted vegetable lasagne served with salad and garlic bread.

Lunch, cake, sunshine… sounds like a plan.
