Dad doesn’t want a mug. Or Socks. Dad wants a proper meal.

Father's Day is a week on Sunday, and if his idea of a perfect afternoon involves great food, a drink in hand, and someone else doing the washing up, we’ve got him covered. Heathes Restaurant on the High Street in Heathfield is taking Father’s Day bookings now.

Longer evenings deserve longer, more relaxed dinners.

Summer in Heathfield means lovely sunsets, slower meals, and food worth sitting over. And there are few better places to do that than at Heathes, a Turkish restaurant on the High Street that’s built for exactly this time of year.

Our menu runs the full range. Start light with meze, a spread of small Turkish dishes designed for sharing across the table. The best part of any meal? When the whole table has something to reach for.

Our Turkish meze at Heathes is built exactly for that. A spread of small dishes, all served with warm Turkish bread, all sitting in the middle of the table so everyone gets a bit of everything. It’s how meze is meant to be eaten, and it’s one of the most enjoyable ways to start a meal you’ll find in Heathfield.

You’ll find humus with chickpeas, lemon juice and tahini. Babaganoush, grilled aubergine pureed with tahini, lemon juice and garlic. Soslu patlican, fried aubergine in onion and tomato sauce. Cacik, traditional Turkish yoghurt with cucumber, garlic, mint and dill. Peynir borek, filo pastry parcels filled with Turkish cheese. Falafel served with humus. And much more on the menu besides.

A 40th and an 80th, both at Heathes. That's the kind of trust we don't take lightly. When someone chooses us not once but twice for the big ones, the milestone meals, the proper celebrations where the whole family's around the table, it tells us we're doing something right. And it pushes us to keep doing it.

Ever had a meal so good it made you regret every restaurant choice you made before it?

That sizzle is the sound of dinner getting serious. Freshly grilled on the mangal, walked straight from kitchen to table, and ready to make every other Wednesday night feel a bit pointless.

This is proper Turkish food. Not the kind you grab on the way home, not the kind that arrives in a soggy box.
