This morning at Oakwood Court was dedicated to making healthy fruit smoothies. Residents got their food prep skills into gear and made 'imune zoom' with passionfruit, apples and mango and 'red defender' with grapes, strawberries and watermelon. The best bit was whizzing the ingredients in the nutribullet and of course the taste test. Staff couldn't help dropping in for a taste test too!😃🥭🍓🍏🍇

Marjorie had a welcome visit from her family today who brought in their beautiful golden retriever 'Luna'. Residents were taken in by her straight away and she was the bell of the ball!

In the afternoon residents gathered to try a new game called 'Quirkle'. The aim was to create a line of 6 tiles according to colour and shape. It was trickier to get the hang of than it sounds but we persevered and we all decided it was a great challenge for
our brain cells and we would like to
do it again! 😄

We're delighted to share we've been awarded Highly Commended in the National Activity Providers Association Arts in Care Homes competition for our recent Arts in Care Homes Day celebrations.

As part of this year's theme, "Stories that connect us", residents, local school children and professional artists came together to create nature-inspired woodland walks through leaf printing, storytelling and shared conversations about nature, memories, sustainability and the changing seasons. Students from local schools worked alongside residents, helping to create beautiful artworks while building meaningful intergenerational connections.

The project demonstrated the powerful impact of creativity in care settings, supporting wellbeing, self-expression and social connection, while creating lasting memories for everyone involved.

We are incredibly proud of our residents, colleagues, school partners and The Painted Ladies for helping make the week such a success. 💚🎨🍂

October is here, and we're ready to welcome the cosy season! 🍂🍁

This week at Oakwood, we have plenty to look forward to with a fantastic range of activities, including our ever-popular 🎬 Cinema Club and 🎵 Music & Movement sessions, giving everyone the chance to have fun, stay active, and enjoy time together.

We're also excited to be introducing our brand-new Winter Menu, filled with delicious seasonal favourites to keep us warm and nourished as the colder months begin. 🍲☕
We can't wait for another wonderful week with our residents, staff, families, and friends. ❤️

Josepha and friends came in to Oakwood Court this morning and spread some Spanish cheer with music and dance 💃🕺🎵🎸 Many joined in with the clapping and toe-tapping and a few showed off some moves on the dance floor! Great fun.

To celebrate Silver Sunday this weekend the local council dropped in a lovely surprise today for the residents to enjoy 🥰

A large bag with a variety of delicious packets of biscuits was donated for all to share with a cuppa ☕️☕️☕️☕️🍪🍪🍪🍪

An accompanying letter thanked the residents for their contributions to society and hoped they all enjoyed the treats 🥰

Gordon, Roger and John certainly looked pleased with the gifts and are looking to forward to enjoying them over the weekend ☕️🍪🥰

A well attended Drum Fit session this morning gave residents a great work out, exercising the lungs as well with a singalong afterwards, drumming to their own beat 🥁💪🎤🎶☺️
