Patrick Monahan’s Edinburgh preview comedy show: I’m Not a Terrorist, I’m Freddie Mercury

We can safely say Patrick has performed at more Haworth Festivals than anyone else, and this year, the show must go on at Cobbles and Clay.

It’s a kind of magic that he brings us his Edinburgh Fringe show preview – I’m Not a Terrorist, I’m Freddie Mercury.

No doubt, there’ll be as many hugs as usual, but no flash!

As we celebrate 20 years of Cobbles & Clay, we've been sharing stories about our customers, our staff, and our journey.

Today, we'd like to say a huge thank you to the businesses and individuals who have helped us along the way.

Over the last two decades, we've worked with lots of people and businesses who have played a part in keeping Cobbles & Clay running. From suppliers delivering ingredients and pottery to tradespeople helping us maintain and improve the cafe, the list is endless.

You've helped us with logos and branding, designed menus, fixed plumbing emergencies, repaired equipment, decorated and renovated our premises, supported us with marketing, technical support, printing, deliveries, window cleaning and countless other jobs behind the scenes.

Some of you have worked with us for years. Others have stepped in exactly when we needed you most.

Running a small independent business for 20 years is never something you do alone. Behind every cup of coffee, slice of cake, painted pot, and family celebration is a network of people helping to make it all possible.

To every supplier, contractor, tradesperson, designer, technician, delivery driver, and local business who has been part of our journey, thank you.

Your support, expertise, and hard work have helped shape Cobbles & Clay into what it is today, and we are incredibly grateful. 💚

🎉 TODAY IS OUR 20TH BIRTHDAY! 🎉
And today isn't really about us, it's about you.

For the last 20 years, you've chosen to spend your time with us. You've brought your children to paint their first pottery masterpiece. You've booked birthday parties and family celebrations. You've met friends for coffee and cake, stopped by for a hot chocolate after school, and spent rainy afternoons painting pots together.

One thing we've always loved is seeing your visits through your eyes. We love it when you tag us in your stories and posts, sharing photos of your pottery creations, family days out, catch-ups with friends, birthday celebrations, and of course plenty of tea and cake! 📸

Over the years you've shared thousands of special moments with us, and some of the photos you've taken have been absolutely incredible. Every tag, photo and memory reminds us just how lucky we are to open the doors every day for you.

Every breakfast shared with family. Every catch-up over coffee. Every child excitedly collecting a finished pot from the kiln. Every special occasion you've trusted us to be part of amd we are so grateful.

The truth is, Cobbles & Clay wouldn't be celebrating its 20th birthday without the thousands of people who have walked through our doors and chosen to spend their time with us.

So today, we simply want to say thank you.
Thank you for every visit. Thank you for every recommendation. Thank you for every celebration. Thank you for every tag, story and photo. Thank you for every pot painted, every cup of tea enjoyed, and every memory made.

You've been at the heart of our story for 20 years, and we're incredibly grateful that we've been allowed to be part of yours. 💚

🥣 A true Cobbles & Clay classic 🥣

When Jill opened the cafe back in 2006, one of the first things she put on the menu was our Lentil & Vegetable Soup.

Apparently, not everyone was convinced. 🤣

Her son Benjamin's response was, "It won't sell."

Well, Benjamin, 20 years later, we think it's fair to say you got that one wrong!

Our Lentil & Vegetable Soup has been a firm favourite with customers since day one and has never left the menu. Through all the menu changes, new dishes, and changing seasons, this humble bowl of soup has stood the test of time.

Made fresh in our kitchen and served with crusty bread, it's comfort in a bowl and still one of the most popular choices we serve.

Some things never go out of fashion. 🥣

Meet Janet, our longest serving member of staff 💚

Janet joined the Cobbles & Clay kitchen team in December 2014, and more than 11 years later, she's still an important part of the cafe today.

Over the years, Janet has seen plenty of changes. New menu items, busy summers, staff coming and going, and thousands upon thousands of customers enjoying food prepared in the kitchen, she works in 3 days a week.

Whether she's preparing breakfasts and lunches or baking some of our most-loved treats, Janet has played a huge part in the Cobbles & Clay team.

If you've ever enjoyed one of our famous oat biscuits, a slice of coffee and walnut cake, or one of our homemade scones with jam and cream, there's a good chance Janet made it. 🍰

As we celebrate 20 years of Cobbles & Clay, we'd like to say a huge thank you to Janet for her dedication, hard work, and loyalty over the last 11½ years. We are incredibly lucky to have her as part of our team. 💚
