This week is Learning Disability Awareness Week 💜

At Artizan Café, we’re proud to provide a welcoming training environment where young adults with learning disabilities can develop practical skills, build confidence and gain valuable experience for the future.

From preparing food and serving customers to barista training, baking and working as part of a busy team, our members are involved in every aspect of café life. Along the way they’re developing independence, resilience, communication skills and confidence that extends far beyond the café doors.

We’re incredibly proud of everything our members achieve and grateful to our staff, volunteers and customers who help make these opportunities possible.

A little behind-the-scenes moment from the kitchen 💜

Dominic has been having a go at preparing and baking our homemade sausage rolls - carefully getting them ready before they went into the oven, and then seeing them come out golden brown and delicious.

It’s moments like these that make our training café so special. Learning new skills, building confidence and taking real pride in a job well done.

We are looking for someone pretty special… Could it be you?

The Café & Inclusion Assistant will support our Café, Training & Inclusion Manager in delivering high-quality café operations alongside inclusive training and member engagement for people with learning disabilities.

This role combines hands-on café duties with direct support for
members, helping create a safe, welcoming, and empowering environment. The Assistant plays a key part in leading the Cafe team to enable our members to build skills, confidence, and independence through meaningful participation in café and training activities.

Approx 20 hrs a week
DBS required

This is a long term role to be part of a team, not a summer job - applicants without the outlined expected experience will not be selected for interview

A big well done to Izzy 💙

Last week, Izzy did a fantastic job supporting the kitchen during a busy service.

She kept her eye on the ball, helped make sure everything was running smoothly, and supported the team by getting items ready when they were needed most.

And while doing all that… she was also showing off just how lovely our lunches look 😍🍽️

Moments like these are what Artizan is all about - building confidence, learning new skills and being part of a supportive team.
