Hey Fox family 🦊
We feel it’s important to clear a few things up, simply and honestly.
The Silver Fox was never about “taking over” or causing disruption.
The intention from day one was actually the opposite — to keep this much-loved café alive, protect local jobs, support the staff team, and make sure this iconic Harrogate spot continued trading rather than sitting closed or uncertain.
A business that had been part of the town for 12 years deserved continuity, energy, investment, and care. That’s all this has ever been about.
We understand that the change happened quickly and naturally people ask questions, but there’s no drama, no hidden agenda, and certainly nothing sinister behind it. Just a local independent business owner trying to keep a good place going, whilst creating something warm, welcoming, and sustainable for the future.
As for the “laptop” wall message…
It was never written to offend anyone or make people feel unwelcome. Quite the opposite actually. We love seeing people work, meet, study, chat, and spend time here. The message was simply a light-hearted way of saying that during very busy periods, supporting an independent café also means allowing tables to become available for others too.
The Silver Fox is — and always will be — about:
☕ Good coffee
🫶 Good people
🍷 Good atmosphere
🏡 Supporting local
🦊 Keeping Harrogate independents alive
To everyone who has supported us already: thank you genuinely.
And to those still figuring us out — come say hello, have a coffee, and judge us by the atmosphere we create and the people we look after.
Love,
Olsi & The Silver Fox Team 🦊✨
