Hi everyone, 7am, the dog has been walked and the Cafe is ready with outside seats in the shade and air con units on inside.

We are opening from 8.30am to 7pm as usual today but will keep an eye on the heat when the pizza 🍕 ovens are fully fired up and go ahead with pizzas to 7pm if the team are ok.

Our cake display fridge struggled yesterday (as did Tesco’s who still haven’t restocked fully) so we will display just one of each sweet treat today, but don’t worry we have plenty ‘out the back’ in many temperature controlled fridges.

As for the rest of the week, we will keep you updated, but we are hoping to stay fully open.

Thanks so much to Broughton Cycling Group for choosing us as your café stop this morning. We were a little worried about how everyone would cope in the heat, but you all arrived smiling as usual! ☀️🚴‍♀️ Huge thanks Martine and the team who have been working hard behind the scenes in incredible temperatures keeping the coffees flowing, the smoothies cold and everyone watered and fed. With 200 cyclists arriving for the Rapha ride next weekend, today was excellent practice! Hope everyone got home safely and stayed cool. 😊🚴‍♂️🍦☕️

☀️ HOT WEATHER UPDATE HARLINGTON☀️

With temperatures set to be very high today, even with possible storms, we’ve made the decision not to run our pizza oven.

As many of you know, our pizzas are cooked in an oven running at over 300°C and, in a small kitchen, that creates a huge amount of additional heat for the team. As Rob and I are out today and the staff are holding the fort we’d rather keep things a little cooler and more comfortable for everyone working in this.

The good news is that everything else is available as normal unless we run out, including:

🥟 Cornish pasties
🥟 Cheese & onion pasties
🥟 Indian spiced Keralan Vegan pasties
🥪 Baguettes with sausages, bacon, smoked chicken, tuna mayo, brie snd salad etc including the famous brunch baguette
🌭Sausage rolls, vegan rolls, GF sausage rolls
🥗 Fresh salads
🥣 Homemade soup
🥤 Smoothies and shakes
☕ Coffee, cold drinks and cakes

And if you’re really, really craving a Hub & Spoke pizza today 🍕, we can prepare a topped pizza for you to take home and finish in your own oven. We’ll provide the base and toppings ready to bake — just pop it into a hot oven at 220 for around 10 minutes and enjoy.

Thank you for understanding, and thank you as always for supporting our lovely team while we’re away. The Cafe is already hot enough for the customers with both doors open so imagine what it’s like for the team..

🚴 ONE WEEK TO GO 🚴

This time next Sunday we’ll be welcoming the first riders taking part in the Rapha Manchester to London Ride in support of About Autism.

Around 200 cyclists will be arriving at the Cafe throughout the afternoon after covering hundreds of miles on their journey south, with The Hub & Spoke acting as the final refreshment stop before they head toLondon.

We’re proud that the café has been chosen again to be part of such an inspiring event and to help support a fantastic cause.

If you’re around next Sunday, do come along and help us give the riders a warm Harlington welcome. 👏🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

We’ll have plenty of coffee, cold drinks, food, smiles and encouragement waiting for them.

Good luck to everyone taking part — we can’t wait to see you all.

A little trip down memory lane today… ❤️

During COVID, when wedding plans everywhere were being turned upside down, we had the privilege of hosting a few lovely couple’s weddings at The Hub & Spoke.

Looking at this photo now reminds us that even in difficult times, wonderful things still happened.

It’s been a little while since our last instalment, but don’t worry — Rob has continued eating every single day. Sometimes more than once a day.

Today’s masterpiece is local sourdough from Pete in Offley, topped with avocado and our best-quality sausages.

A combination that sounds slightly questionable until you try it

Rob’s verdict: absolutely excellent.
