The side of the job no one sees!

The van had a wiring issue yesterday, we narrowed it down to an earth fault within the charging system so my mechanics installed a fresh new earth joint on the van, problem solved? … we thought.

Drive it away and then on my way to Tattershall today, Huge vibration and rattling.

Straight back to the garage, to discover bolts on the drive that runs to the ice cream machine had come loose - one of those being the main earth to the engine 🙄 which was the issue we couldn’t locate yesterday!

Needless to say, I’ve driven to Tattershall twice this week and back without even turning the ice cream machine on.

She’s had parts dropped off from Doncaster today and I’ve just driven to Hull to collect the final piece of the puzzle and fingers crossed tomorrow morning, she’ll be as good as new.

I haven’t done this much running around to keep a van on the road since the old smiley days.

We soldier on .. we work all hours, to make these vans stay in the road. Nothing defeats me when it comes to keeping these vans mobile, helped of course by the amazing team at The Garage Grimsby ltd who all chip in to discover faults, find them, fix them and keep the vans out as much as possible.

We’re only as good as the people who keep these vans going. 👌🏻🥰

She’s backkkkk!

The belt issue we obtained was a broken belt tensioner which snapped in half, (never seen before).

This part was only replaced during routine maintenance along with the belt over winter, genuine Mercedes parts.

Mercedes offered to do the warranty work on the van, on 18th August?! 🤨 and they can only honour the warranty if they repair it themselves.

So, basically, Mercedes warranty is absolutely useless if you need your vehicle in the road 24/7! They offer a premium price, for s**t parts, and when they break offer you a slot 4 weeks further down the road.

Lesson learnt, you’re better off fitting after market parts and replacing them when they go wrong, at half the price.

Anyway, Tattershall, everyday now for the next 6 weeks! Let’s have it 🍦🍦🍦🍦

As we stroll into the school holidays, I want to thank all the schools, colleges and workplaces that have worked with us this year, as well as our customers who come our day in day out on the streets.

We scaled down our bookings by just sticking to the loyal customers who return year on year and we were still manic for the entire June and July, even after we’d turned a lot of work away. We don’t want to live to work .. we’ve done that too long now.

Sports days, summer fayres, school treat days and work place treats, it’s been an absolute blast.

We thoroughly enjoy being out there, bringing smiles to Thousands of faces, day by day!

Next year, brings even more cuts to our workload, to ensure we can support the schools that support us, and they know who they are.

We now continue the crazy shifts into the long summer holidays over at Tattershall Lakes and Cleethorpes Boating Lake, daily until September.

We will be mixing and matching the rounds each evening to ensure they are still covered so don’t threat. The street rounds slash to quiet through the school holidays so we will work around them to ensure everyone gets a van a few times a week.

After a solid few months of graft, she finally gave in .. and on the very last job of the day .. thankfully!

She was already booked into the garage to be dropped off for a new oil cooler, near side hub and ABS sensor and a service, but her auxiliary belt decided to disengage itself meaning water wasn’t pumping around, the battery wasn’t charging, she’d just had enough!

This is our main van for Tattershall and out of town work, so she definitely works the hardest, and they can only be pushed so far. After all, it is a machine.

She’s in safe hands now at The Garage Grimsby ltd so the headache has now passed on to the team there.

Hopefully they can pull the cat out the bag to ensure she doesn’t miss her debut for the summer holidays at Tattershall on Saturday.

I have every confidence! 🥰🥳
