Happy Sunday morning. Not officially spring yet but it really feels like it. So to kick off the season. and after so many requests from all my lovely ladies, I am so excited to offer my afternoon teas in my lovely summer house here in Beelsby.

Firethorn Cottage is nestled in the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds an area of outstanding natural beauty. The summer house is hidden away at the bottom of our cottage garden behind the silver birch tree. Perfect setting for your afternoon tea or your private celebration…you will have the summerhouse exclusively to yourself.

Bookings will be taken for private celebrations for a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 people. Available on Fridays and Saturdays throughout spring and summer… booking is essential. £25.00 per person.

Please note: as this is such a small operation unfortunately the only alternative to the main menu is vegetarian… sorry.

We promised to let you know what we’ve been up to in our retirement 😜a week spent in the beautiful Lake District and then back to turn the tea shop into a studio apartment and courtyard for Airbnb. Not quite ready yet but hopefully by the end of July. Hope you like it… we love it. Happy Wednesday 🥰

So it’s time to say goodbye to Firethorn Cottage. I’ve been dreading sending this post and it is with real mixed emotions that I do so.
Thank you thank you to everyone who has made our time here so fabulous. We feel really honoured that people have liked our posts, commented on our posts and been in for afternoon tea… without you it wouldn’t have been the same.
So onwards and upwards…we will let you know how our new venture is going.
So again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts…. Caroline and Steve ❤️❤️❤️

Update on our retirement plans…we are closing on Saturday 22nd June 2024

I am sure everyone is aware that we have had plans to retire for quite a while now. So it is with extreme mixed emotions that we have decided to close after service on Saturday 22nd June 2024.

Opening our little Firethorn Cottage has been an absolute delight but nothing compared to the wonderful customers we have met, the love, support and fun has been amazing. So thank you to you all… you are the reason that our decision has been so difficult ❤️❤️❤️

🌸I’ve had the pleasure of serving up afternoon teas for three years now at Firethorn Cottage so this time I’ve decided to put together all the lovely favourites that I have loved making and of course you have loved tasting. So here goes…

To start…
Garden Pea and Mint soup

Sandwiches…
Baked Ham, Mustard Mayo and Rocket
Vintage Cheddar and Beetroot Chutney
Traditional Cucumber

Savouries…
Homemade Lincolnshire Sausage Rolls
Warm Buttered Feta Basil and Red Pesto Scones

Sweets…
Lavender Scones with Conserve and Clotted Cream

Raspberry and Rose Mini Cup Cake
Zesty Lemon and Lime Drizzle Bars
Rich Chocolate Orange Brownie
Eton Mess

All the above served with a pot of premium teas and coffee. We also serve a selection of fruit cordials for those who don’t drink tea or coffee.

Booking is Essential. We do have a vegetarian or gluten free option but please mention this at the time of booking. Some items on the menu contain nuts.

Afternoon teas are served on a Friday and Saturday staring from 12.30.

Afternoons teas are £22.50 per person.

As promised… recipe for Broccoli and Boursin Soup.
1 head of broccoli- break into florets
1 courgette sliced
2 vegetable stock cubes
1 diced onion
3/4 Boursin cheese (depends on your taste)
Put broccoli, courgette, onion and stock cubes in a pan and cover three quarters with water. Bring to the boil and simmer until cooked but not over cooked.
When the broccoli is soft blend together with a stick blender or in a food processor with the Boursin until smooth and creamy.
All done!!!
Tip: I use a good handful of frozen diced onions as I hate chopping onions. Freezes really well. Hope you enjoy my favourite soup. ❤️❤️❤️
