This Friday sees the return of the ultimate purveyors of soul & funk.. The Soul Strutters🕺🏽

Soul strutters are a staple of the south west music scene, they are the busiest and most raucous funk/soul/party band in the south west.

If you’re an old friend of Café René you might remember these guys from back in the day - and if you’re a new friend then get to know! You won’t regret coming to this one!!

Today is the day! Work is currently in hand setting up for Gloucester Vinyl Festival Charity Fundraiser🎧

All vinyl DJ sets starting at 2pm. Vinyl Open Deck ran by SGVC running from 2pm - 5/6pm in the Main Bar. Just bring your records along, pop your name down and have a spin. Browse the record stalls - lots on offer out on the green today! BBQ and outdoor bar too. Charity tombola bought to you by the incredibly kind DJ Longsail from Hard Stairs who has sourced some really cool bits!

Basically it’s gonna be a really lovely day celebrating music on wax. We’re family friendly in the daytime too with Good Vibes Face Art popping by with her bag of glitter and goodness ✨

All in aid of Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice - we have set up an online page for anyone who would like to donate there too 🩵

We can’t wait to see you all later!

This Friday you will not want to miss this mesmerising performance, we can guarantee you will not have experienced anything like this before! Meet Echo Town, a duo consisting of brothers Ric and Robert Harrison who achieve a full band sound with just two pairs of hands.

Forget genres for a second, forget pigeonholes or styles. Echo Town lives in a world of its own. The musical chemistry between these brothers, Richard and Robert Harrison, shouts louder than any genre ever could. They have begun describing their musical style as ADHD, a mash-up of so many genres and styles. Drawing on the bands of the 60s and 70s, Echo Town like to incorporate improvised musical excursions, drum solos, and off-the-cuff jams to keep each show fresh for them.

“as if John Butler’s lapsteel, Xavier Rudd’s social commentary and Jack Johnson’s catchy pop ideals have all been fused by the hands of two British songwriters.” Richard Cadence (egigs.co.uk)

This Wednesday we are joined by the awesome Kaspar & The Swamp Dogs for some swampy gospel blues! 😎

Kaspar has been obsessed by the blues and vintage music since he was 12, half a lifetime ago. He has been described as a 100 year old soul in the body of a 25 year old as he continues to baffle people
with a refreshingly raw sound in the 2020's.
