We are thrilled to welcome the newly formed Boreal Collective to The Globe!

Consisting of Becky Laverty (head programmer at Roadburn Festival / Slowpoke), Simon Catling ( Grey Lantern / head live programmer at The White Hotel), Gaz Williams ( head of SVBKVLT / club programmer at The White Hotel), Owain Paciuszko (Glossop Cinema Club), The Black Circle collective, and the welcome and long overdue return of The Lift Global Music Club, the Boreal Collective have put together an amazing and varried first season of events, kicking off on September 3rd with Portugal's Krautrock trailblazers Maquina!!!

The rest of the season includes legendary BBC Radio Lancashire DJ Steve Barker aka DJ Old Rat, Brazilian avant-punk madness from Deafkids, acclaimed composer and virtuoso cellist Jo Quail, Hyperdub label boss Kode9, a collaboration between The Black Circle and Well Dressed, singer and multi-instrumentalist Tiny Vipers, folk-electronics from St Kilda's Garefowl, the long overdue return of The Lift with award-winning poet and performer Mark Gwynne Jones, Conor Thomas and Faux Naif's darkwave/goth/industrial night 'Elegia', a Folklore Tapes takeover andcult film classics such as Donnie Darko and American Werewolf in London, plus much more.

We are very excited to welcome one of Manchester's hardest working live promoters, Grey Lantern, back to The Globe. On Thursday 3rd September, they bring Portugal's MAQUINA to Glossop, celebrating the release of their latest album 'BODY TRANSMISSION'

------

MAQUINA. is a Lisbon-based trio and one of Portugal's most active live acts on the European circuit. Formed by Halison Peres (drums/vocals), João Cavalheiro (guitar), and José Rego (bass), the band fuses krautrock, industrial electronics, and noise into a hypnotic, high-impact sound driven by repetition and rhythm.

“BODY TRANSMISSION” marks a new phase in the band's trajectory. Centred on the energy of the dancefloor, it is a heavier, more direct, and more intense record than its predecessors. Described by the band as “an album always in motion”, it also brings a stronger focus on lyrics, now clearer, sharper, more assertive, and alongside a more precise and deliberate compositional approach, moving away from the spontaneous jams that defined earlier releases. Exploring the idea of “body music”, BODY TRANSMISSION plays with tension and release, delving into a more sensual, darker, and immersive universe.
