❤️ A LITTLE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM SCRAN FAE SCRATCH ❤️

This is definitely one of the harder posts we’ve had to write…

After a lot of thought, we’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to close Scran Fae Scratch.

It hasn’t been an easy decision, especially because we’ve put so much into our wee shop over the last 12 months and genuinely loved what we’ve created.

But rather than focus on the difficult parts, we really just want to say thank you. ❤️

To everyone who has walked through our doors, ordered a breakfast box on the way to work, popped in for lunch, tried one of our homemade specials, ordered a takeaway, booked catering, took part in our competitions, recommended us to someone or shared one of our posts — thank you for supporting us.

A particularly big thank you has to go to the Leslie community. ❤️

One of the things I’ve enjoyed most about opening Scran Fae Scratch has been getting to know so many people from Leslie and the surrounding area. The familiar faces, the wee chats across the counter and the customers who became regulars are things I’ll genuinely miss.

Running a small business certainly has its ups and downs, but I’m incredibly proud of what we have managed to create.

We made our food from scratch, tried new things, learned along the way, had plenty of laughs and a few tears for sure too 😂 — but we always cared about what we were putting out and the people we were serving.

Sometimes things don’t have to last forever to have been worth doing. ❤️ Despite it being a hard decision. It feels like right decision

So from myself and everyone at Scran Fae Scratch, thank you for welcoming us into the Leslie community and for being part of our little journey.

It really has meant more to us than you probably realise.

📣 AN IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM SCRAN FAE SCRATCH ❤️

After a lot of thought, we’ve made an important decision regarding our delivery service.

We have officially asked Just Eat to change Scran Fae Scratch to COLLECTION ONLY.

🚗 For HOME DELIVERY → Please use Fife Eats

🛍️ For JUST EAT → Collection only

🍴 Walk-ins & direct collections → Business as usual

We know that many of you use Just Eat to order from us, so we wanted to be completely transparent about why we’ve made this decision.

Unfortunately, since joining Just Eat we have experienced ongoing issues, particularly surrounding third-party deliveries and trying to get problems resolved when something goes wrong takes us away completely from what we are trying to achieve at the shop.

Despite having an account manager as our point of contact for Just Eat, we’ve repeatedly struggled to get the support and resolutions we’ve needed.

For a small independent business, that has been incredibly difficult.

But there is an even bigger reason we have had to make this decision…

💷 We have been running at a loss through Just Eat.

Once all of the costs involved are taken into consideration, continuing to operate Just Eat deliveries in the way we have been simply isn’t financially sustainable.

And if we’re completely transparent with you guys, it has been crippling our wee business.

Being busy and receiving lots of orders might look fantastic from the outside — but if we’re losing money fulfilling those orders, it simply isn’t sustainable.

But this decision isn’t just about money.

It’s also about YOU.

We want every customer ordering from Scran Fae Scratch to receive the very best service we can possibly provide.

We put so much time, care and effort into preparing your food fresh, and when that food leaves our shop, we want to know that if something goes wrong with your delivery, there is someone there who will actually help us resolve it.

Our experience with Fife Eats has been completely different. ❤️

They’re local, they’re incredibly easy to contact and whenever we’ve needed help, they’ve been quick to respond and genuinely worked with us to resolve the problem — often within minutes.

For a wee independent business like ours, that support is invaluable.

So going forward:

🚗 WANT SCRAN DELIVERED? → FIFE EATS

🛍️ PREFER JUST EAT? → COLLECTION

🍴 WALK-IN & COLLECTION → AS NORMAL OR THE OPTION TO SIT IN!

And this isn’t necessarily the end of our delivery journey either…

One of our goals for the future is to eventually have our very own Scran Fae Scratch delivery driver. 🚗❤️

That would give us even greater control over the service you receive — from the moment your order comes into our kitchen until your Scran reaches your door.

We completely appreciate that changing how you normally order might be a wee inconvenience for some of our customers, and we’re incredibly grateful for your understanding.

We’re not doing this to take choice away. We’re doing it to protect our business, improve the service we can provide and make Scran Fae Scratch stronger for the future. ❤️

We’re launching The Buffalo Farm SCARECROW COMPETITION!

And we want your pupils, classes, clubs and community groups to get those creative ideas flowing…

Your challenge is simple:

BUILD A SCARECROW!

Make it funny, fabulous, spooky, spectacular or completely bonkers 😂 — as long as it can be securely fixed to one of our posts and is ready to take its place in our scarecrow field by 9th October.

🌾 We can even provide the straw!

And here’s the best bit…

Every school class or community group that creates a scarecrow we can display in our field will receive up to 35 FREE TICKETS to our Pumpkins, Pygmies & Piggies event, starting 10th October! 🎃🐐🐷

❤️ LITTLE HEADS UP GUYS! ❤️

We’ve had a really busy day today and have managed to run out of a fair few things — so firstly, thank you! 🥰

We’re going to close up at 5pm tonight rather than start re-prepping everything with only just over an hour of the day left.

A lot of what we do is made and prepared fresh, so re-prepping everything now would basically mean losing a full day of freshness on those items tomorrow — and potentially creating unnecessary waste, which we really don’t want to do.

We’d much rather call it a little earlier tonight, get ourselves reset and come back tomorrow with everything freshly prepped, stocked back up and ready to go! ❤️

Thank you so much for keeping us busy today and for understanding. 🥰

Fresh is fresh — and we’d rather run out than compromise on it. ❤️
