My Blue Lias Kitchen journey wouldn’t be the same without these days spent in the kitchen of gardener Charles Dowding. The magic and hope I feel when I step into the little kitchen of Homeacres is something I can never quite express. Beautiful vegetables, grown just outside the back door are piled high. Ready for me to create the food you see here, a chefs dream 💚 Even amidst this relentless summer heat, there is incredible abundance. For me, Charles Dowding and the gardens of Homeacres are an inspiration and reignite my passion for creating beautiful food with incredible produce, feeding the body and mind well 💚

I admit to drinking wayyy too much coffee and as a chef for 20 years, I have developed an unhealthy dependency on the coffee bean to keep me going on looong long shifts. Like for many of us, it’s a dependency I want to lessen but I still love the ritual and the pep in my step it gives me. So…when I was offered to try these little magic Lions mane coffee pods by local Bristol business TwoByrdsPods - Based in Bristol ☕️🍄‍🟫✨ I bought a shonky old second hand nespresso machine and gave them a try. These little adaptogenic pods are a blend of organic Arabica coffee, lions mane, ashwagandha root and aronia berry, an incredible combination of ingredients to help boost cognitive function, reduce inflammation, promote calm and support a healthy immune system. These little pods promote focus and lessen the severe jingle jangles that I have unhealthily normalised in my everyday life. What I also love is that I’m supporting a local business too! So, thank you TwoByrdsPods - Based in Bristol ☕️🍄‍🟫✨ for the kick up the backside I needed to take more care of myself, much appreciated! 💚

I cannot begin to describe how beautiful the first White Room Session was. Thank you to Andy Skellam and anna_kissell for being part of this very first endeavour. Thank you also to my wonderful mum Rosie Price and Andy Murray for helping me to create a space to hold these fantastic musicians and the beautiful folk that came along for the ride! I think LUCY LITCHFIELD sums it up perfectly and here’s to many more 💚

I visit the White Spring almost every other day to collect water not just for drinking but to make my sourdough and water kefir. This ritual has proved to be such a beautiful aspect to my work and I am grateful that the spring is only a short drive from kitchen near to Glastonbury, Somerset. If you’d like to learn more about why I use spring water when making sourdough I’ll be running a summer sourdough session on Saturday 4th July
